1) 2011 - WHS explored 1:1 with pilots and will pass macbooks to WMS in fall of 2012

2)Spring, 2012 - WMS decided to have similar in-school 1:1 pilot in 8th grade Eng & Sci. Teachers visited Millis and Newton Bigelow for ipad and netbook 1:1 programs

3)Fall, 2012 - Laptops were deployed not only in pilot classrooms but accessibility grew for all teachers and so did our use of Google Apps

4)The July 2014 deadline for the lease of the carts needed to be addressed and the WMS Tech Committee met monthly last year to determine the best device given the fiscal constraints of the school and town. If no macs then CBs or ipads?

5) Feb, 2013 Tech Committee members visited Millis to view iPads in action - students were not using creation apps (portal to its learning). Pedagogical shift would be necessary to get the most out of the ipad. With other mandates (RTI and Teacher Eval) we knew there wouldn’t be a lot of time to devote to this type of PD. Lack of keyboard is an issue and would add to the cost of the device. Google Drive does not run well on the iPad.

6) March, 2013 - To test the chromebooks we piloted a cart for approx 1 month. Positive feedback and few technical glitches

7) May, 2013 - Faculty Meeting Chromebook Slam to demonstrate use of CB’s in each subject area

8) Sept, 2013 - Received our own cart of CB’s - Positive feedback continues except for certain wireless areas and our current wireless issues.

9) Oct, 2013 - Betsy, attends Apple’s Leadership for Mobile Learning Conference in Cupertino, CA with Allyson Mizoguchi and Paul Stein. View schools using ipads to facilitate challenge based learning

10) 2013-2014 school year - BAM has been meeting with Depts to preview the chromebooks and show teachers how to access the Chrome WebStore on their laptop. We must think about not only the final product but the workflow - For how we currently use them and for how we may use them to their full potential.

11) January, 2014 - CL’s visited Sudbury MS 6th grade CB pilot and Weston MS ipad program. Sudbury moving forward with 6th and 7th grade take-home. Weston in it’s 4th year of take home program.
