  • Indian lawyer
  • Anti- colonial nationalist
  • Politicl ethicist
  • He employed non- violence resistance to lead the successful campaign for indian’s independence from biritsh rule, and in turn inspired movements for civil rights and freedom across the world.

  • He set about organising peasents, farmers, and urban labourers to protest against exessive land-tax and discrimination.
  • Gandhi led nation wide campaigans for easing poverty expanding women’s rights, building religion and untouchability.
  • Gandhi led them im challenging the british- imposed salt tax with the 400 km and 250 miles dandi salt march in 1930 and later in calling for the british to Quit india 1942.
  • Gandhi’s birthday 2,October is commomorated in India as Gandhi Jayanthi, a national holiday and world wide as the international day of Non- violence
