Firebase Realtime Database. What is it?🤷‍♂️🤷‍♀️

The Firebase Realtime Database is a cloud-hosted NoSQL database that lets you store and sync data between your users in realtime.

In simple terms:

  • Firebase Realtime Database is a special kind of database that helps you store your documents and readily notifies devices that are listening to changes in your database.
  • That means users are always aware of the latest changes to your database. A real world example would be a cryptocurrency app. Users would need to be aware of the latest crypto prices without having to reload the app every now and then.
  • Firebase Realtime Database gives us this functionality out of the box and in a few lines of code, we’d have a fully functional database.

Offline Support

Firebase Realtime Database keeps track of changes made when the user is not online using a local cache. These changes are saved on the user’s device locally, and then syncs the changes whenever the user comes back online.
