How to access the service….

Schools request the Specialist Teacher Outreach Service

The students’ ORS teacher staffing funding is transferred to Kōwhai Specialist School

Kōwhai Specialist School employ a Specialist Teacher to work with the student

An agreement between Kōwhai Specialist School and the enrolling school is signed, outlining the roles and responsibilities for both schools

We can offer…

Weekly support for ORS funded students,

.1 (HN) or .2 (VHN) Specialist Teacher time

Support with curriculum adaptation
Upskilling teaching staff and Teacher Aides to support students within their learning environment
Support with the IEP process
Assessment of students’ learning needs including those working within Level 1
Planning and preparing individualised programmes and resources
Monitoring and evaluating progress and achievement
Weekly reflections on student learning
Creating and adapting learning resources and strategies to best support student’s individual needs
Modelling evidence based teaching practice
Support with students’ social, emotional and behavioural needs
Collaboration with school staff, parents/carers/whānau and other agencies to ensure consistency
