  • Each student will give a 5-minute* presentation on a paper related to large model reasoning. The QA section is expected to be 30s~1min. Paper presentation starts from week 3 (10/16)
  • Please sign up for the presentation in then given spreadsheet.
  • You may choose a paper from the reference list or select another relatively new paper relevant to the course topic. If you wish to present a paper that is not included in the reference list, please add it to the "Propose Your Own!" tab for TA review and approval.

  • There are currently over 150 papers on the list
    • We have roughly categorized them for easier navigation
  • These papers are either published in top conferences (ICLR, NeurIPS, ICML, ACL, etc.) and/or influential preprints
  • You may also present a paper that is not included in the reference list, please add it to the "Propose Your Own!" tab for TA review and approval.
    • “Your own paper” should be relatively new (2023 or after)

Paper Presentation: Rubrics

  • Potential aspects to cover:
    • The problem they are trying to solve
    • Why the problem is important
    • Main methodology of the paper
    • A summary of their findings
    • Your insights or critiques about the paper : strength, weakness, limitation
    • The real-world implication/application of the paper’s finding
  • The presentation is expected to be 5 minutes with 30s~1min QA session (total 6 min)
  • We may give you notice when there is 1 minute left for the presentation part (4th min) and when the presentation time is exceeded (not counting QA)
  • Slides and a motivating question for the audience are needed

Introducing the Key Aspects (30%)

  • Problem and Importance: Clearly explain the problem the paper addresses and why it matters in the broader context.
  • Main Methodology: Present the core methodology and no need to discuss implementation details or detailed baselines.
  • Findings: Summarize the key findings, and provide with the main takeaways.

Analysis and Insights (30%)

  • Personal Insights/Critique: Offer your own perspective on the paper, briefly discussing strengths, weaknesses, and potential limitations.
  • [Optional] Real-World Implication/Application: Discuss the potential real-world implications or applications of the paper’s findings

Paper Presentation: Key Components 2

Audience Interaction (25%)

  • Motivating Question: Prepare at least one question related to the paper’s problem, methodology, or implications to encourage discussion. You can mention this at the start or during the Q&A session.
  • QA Session: Your presentation should include a QA session for 30s to 1 min.

Clarity and Organization (25%)

  • Slides: Slides should be well-organized and visually clear, with key points (problem, importance, methodology, findings, insights) highlighted. Please cite the paper in your first slide (e.g. authors, published conference, year).
  • Presentation Quality: The presentation should be polished and engaging. We would value the effective use of visual aids or animations to explain the methodology and findings.
  • Presentation Length: Please make your presentation within 5 minutes by focusing on the key aspects. Please provide a brief introduction of yourself at the beginning.
