OVERVIEW

The literacy rate is defined by the percentage of the population of a given age group that can read and write. Ohio has been actively working to improve literacy rates by implementing targeted interventions and providing support for struggling students. Despite these efforts, literacy remains a significant challenge, particularly among adults and children. In Ohio, only 43% of fourth-graders are proficient in math and 32% in reading both down from 2015.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

A significant portion of Ohio's student population,struggles with literacy. Most students are below there grade level. Which mean they won’t do good with future opportunities. , and the state's overall class well-being. The problem of literacy in Ohio is multifaceted, encompassing challenges carrying from childhood into adulthood.

OBJECTIVES

  • Improving reading writing and communication skills for all learning through comprehensive research approach .

  • Foster collaboration between families and communities to promote and increase reading engagement among children and youth.

  • Raising awareness about the importance and benefits of literacy.

PROPOSED SOLUTION

  • Promote reading aloud in school from middle school to high school.

  • Providing students with a variety of books that reflect their interests and backgrounds can foster a love of reading.
