HYPE PARTNERED WITH OPTIMISM TO LAUNCH THE SUPERFEST CAMPAIGN, AIMING TO SHOWCASE AND SPUR EXPLORATION OF THE 45+ DEFI APPLICATIONS EXISTING ACROSS THE SUPERCHAIN.

OPTIMISM IS AN L2 BLOCKCHAIN, A COLLECTIVE OF BUSINESSES, COMMUNITIES AND CITIZENS WORKING ON A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE FOR ETHEREUM, WHILE THE SUPERCHAIN IS A COLLECTIVE OF CHAINS ALL BUILT USING THE OP STACK.

HYPE'S APPROACH FOCUSED ON DEVELOPING A UNIQUE JOURNEY OF DISCOVERY FOR USERS THROUGH THE ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES OFFERED BY THE OPTIMISM COLLECTIVE.

CAMPAIGN CHALLENGE

Due to legal restrictions, the campaign could not openly appear as a DeFi campaign, so we needed a way to avoid mentioning any type of DeFi-related jargon, Hype approached this campaign by opting for a Festival theme to bring something unique and memorable.

This choice allowed Optimism to run the campaign without fear of legal restrictions, but ensuring that the message reaching the target audience was clear. The result was a very successful launch, gaining a large number of impressions and exceeding the campaign volume goals within the second week.

The main goal of this campaign was to promote the concept of the Superchain from Optimism, and build a brand story around it that would help people to see the Optimism Superchain as a DeFi hub in web3 and, as a result, increase volume (Total Value Locked) for all 4 chains in the ecosystem. What’s more this needed to feel like a ‘summer’ campaign.

While Optimism already had a clear brand, the Superchain did not have anything recognisable, and so our aim was to design a campaign look that could live longer than just this campaign, be repeatable and be ownable in the future for the brand too.

JUMPER & CONCLAVE PARTNERSHIP

The strategic collaboration between Optimism, Hype, Jumper and Conclave, enabled the creation of this campaign and the smooth running of SuperFest.

Jumper, is the technology platform behind the claiming process and through which users could see quests, mint their NFTs and earn rewards. Whereas, Conclave, was the B2B partnership strategist working with each partner on reward allocations.

Hype’s role was to ideate and develop the brand campaign theme, and all creatives related to it, including designing and producing the SuperFest website and social assets.

Hype also developed a way to integrate Sunny, the Optimism mascot, into the SuperFest Festival website as well as a dedicated icon we could use across the campaign for all partners so it was memorable and easy to spot across 40+ participating projects. The website is fun and incentivizes people to play around and scroll

SUPERFEST NFTs

WRISTBANDS

To increase participation and highlight the different chains we designed commemorative NFTs highlighting users’ participation in each one of the 4 chain missions. What’s more we wanted to find a way to incorporate Zora (an nft minting chain) into the campaign as it is also a Superchain chain.

Since the campaign couldn't link too much to rewards or economic incentives, the NFTs allowed the community to speculate on the future utility.

By completing all Base, OP Mainnet, Fractal or Mode missions, users were entitled to mint a dedicated NFT for free and collect OP Rewards. Once the 4 NFTs were obtained, users were able to collect the NFT VIP Pass and unlock special rewards.
