Drowning

Drowning would have been one of the main causes of death in the Titanic disaster. Some would not have been able to swim or waves could have been big enough to drown them.Additionally, those wearing life belts would have faced a danger. Because of the lack of proper drilling aboard Titanic, a lot of the passengers wouldn't of known the proper way to drop into the water with a life belt on.

Crushing

The people who would have died from crushing mostly did so in the water, under one of the funnels or under the stern. Some also probably died within the ship at the time of the breakup, as various items inside the ship, some extremely heavy, crashed about and into them.

Hypothermia

Hypothermia would have been another main cause of death in the sinking of the ship. People would have fell into the water that was around about -2 degrees C and frozen to death.

Falling

Falling off the edge of the Titanic would have involved a 175 foot fall so people would have broken bones all over the body just from hitting the water.

In Conclusion

Before our reading and research we had thought that most people drowned during this disaster, so we were surprised at all the different ways in which people died.
