The Jesus story sheds true light

On our humanity;

From Jesus we can learn a way

To live abundantly.

Jesus had pity for the sick;

They begged him for release;

They were considered as ‘unclean’,

They longed to find some peace.

To outcasts Jesus gave some hope,

Real worth and dignity;

His hand stretched out to those unclean

To heal them graciously.

Such healing care was not allowed,

But Jesus gave them life;

For sickness and the name ‘Unclean’

Led to inhuman strife.

Who knows what healing can occur

What check on human pain

Can happen if we love like him

And let compassion reign?
