01 BACKGROUND
Human body needs Haemoglobin that enables Red Blood cells (RBC) to carry oxygen. Oxygen is vital for all organs to function, as it is oxygen from which the energy for all organs is derived at cellular level. Thus any malfunction in RBC can lead to severe deficiency of oxygen in vital organs which may lead to chronic diseases and may also cause failure of organs leading to even death. There are two such genetic disorders that affects the functioning of RBC i.e. Thalassemia (Thal) and Sickle Cell Disorders (SCD). Though these disorders can be effectively managed by medicines during the life span of a human being. However, with some awareness, and can also be terminated from society through correct gene pairing. It is evident that these two global menaces can be cured by awareness only and not by medicines

03AIM
With around 18 million people with sickle cell traits and 1.4 million patients with sickle cell disease, India is expected to have the second-highest numbers in the world, and 42 million beta Thal trait in India.. Northern and Western Indian states had a higher Thalassemic burden. In Eastern India, tribal populations had a higher prevalence of Thal. The prevalence of sickle cell carriers among different tribal groups varied from 1 to 40%. HbS is reported mainly in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, and Gujarat and to a lesser magnitude in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala and Uttar Pradesh. Therefore, it is important to spread awareness among the populace in order to make Bharat free from Thalassemia and Sickle Cell Disorder. The worst affected areas are being addressed first.
Conduct a training campaign under the aegis of NCC to create a workforce to generate social awareness and help society to terminate Thalassemia (Thal) and Sickle Cell Disorder (SCD).

METHODOLOGY
1. Identifies the key target population suffering from Thalassemia and SCD.
3. Propose program strategies, settings, and channels for delivering the message that increase awareness and also make India free from Thal and SCD
06 METHOD
A trained work force of NCC cadets Nationwide will achieve the aim by following three steps
2. Offers content key for message appropriate to each target population.

CONCLUSION
Working at grass root level and spreading awareness can find a way to free India from Thal and SCD. Awareness among people can help in breaking the chain of these genetic disorders as in the case of Cyprus, which effectively broke the chain of these genetic disorders and is now Thal and SCD free country. The similar campaign can also be undertaken by volunteers to spread awareness and helping India to break the chain. NCC being a disciplined volunteer organization is a potent weapon to take on the responsibility of helping India breaking the chain under the Government mission to eliminate sickle cell anaemia by 2047
