Approach Each PDP Systematically

PDP Pages Are...

  • PDP describes one product in detail, and guides customer to make choice to purchase product
  • Marketing, DLP, and CLP pages should tell the larger story (Amy Brassall and Michael Szachta)

Research

  • Content team conducts information gathering meetings with SMEs of products
  • Questions tailored to audience (OnStar SMEs, Super Cruise, OnStar Marketing) and answers tailor final output

North Star

  • Dynamic content based on user experience w/ product (tailored to each persona)
  • Custom, unique, targeted, specific, rich storytelling
  • Segmentation (Moms vs. Tech lovers vs. Grandpas, OR Mother Hens vs. Safe Explorers)

PDP Considerations

  • Compare tables
  • Price comparisons
  • Product detail callouts (bullets, scannable)
  • Testimonials/quotes
  • “How to” videos
  • Product detail callouts (bullets, scannable)

  • Image heavy- large, high quality images illustrating the products

The content of the page reflects the information needed by the user to make a decision about the product. As we finalize the categories  and the types of content, we will make selections based on the needs of the user. Bundles demand Comparison Tables, Vehicle Enhancements demand How-To explanations and Personalization products demand big visuals – the pages will incorporate these elements in their designs where necessary.

Product Detail Page

The content on the PDP must reflect what the user has seen on the pages they’ve navigated through to get there. We must accommodate users that have landed directly on the PDP and those that have found it through other pages.

Bringing Life to Product Detail Pages

17

With the components available to the team today we have an opportunity to bring the Product Detail Pages to life. We can bring humanity and interest to the pages by adding components that focus on the Product Benefits.

We recommend keeping the component that names the product and presents the persistent ("sticky") price and Buy Now Call-To-Action, and adding another component that reflects the marketing messages – and visuals – that brought the user to the page.

New Components on the Horizon

18

In the long-term we will consider adjustments to the components to deliver more of the content desired by our users.

Beyond adding visual and benefit-oriented interest to the page, we can explore more comparison, video and Social Proof content.

Components to Match Information Needs

19

Next Steps include:

  • Current Component Analysis to match desired content to existing components
  • Capturing missing requirements to allow existing components to accept desired content
  • Brainstorming of new components not available in the current component library that will meet the information needs of our audience(s)

What Makes a Great PDP

  • Updates to page using components that we have
  • Leverage better visuals/assets that exist

21

Incorporate new initiatives, such as:

  • Dynamic/shared content – create once, publish everywhere strategy to improve consistency and speed to launch
  • Audience segmentation
    • Create targeted content and more personalized messaging
    • Clear structure for features, feed those in dynamically so every PDP is unique to a user’s needs

- Update components to function the way we’ve outlined previously in this presentation

  • A/B Testing
  • Partner with marketing to develop better assets

PDP Direction: Choice/Conversion

Systems Approach

  • Considering who our users are and where they are in the funnel (systems thinking)
  • Every touchpoint must reflect part of larger GM ecosystem (alleviating confusion over time and use)
  • Tighter and cleaner components and copy
  • Encourage conversion (CTAs, overall flow)
  • The more the user finds joy in the  outcome, the more likely they are to return (building trust)
