Happy Vappu (the 1st of May) from Polvijärvi School, Finland!

Today has been such an epic day! We celebrated by dressing up in all kinds of crazy and funny costumes. We had a huge disco in the gym and a cool selfie corner where we took tons of photos with our friends.

We also had a pop-up café Where we could buy some delicious treats and snacks.

Vappu is definitely one of the best school days of the year!

A TRIP AMONG THE STARS

In April we went on a trip to the planetarium.

The planetarium is a museum about the Universe.

We experienced many activities directly with our bodies and through our movements.

In an elliptical-shaped amphitheatre, we watched an amazing projection that explained the formation of the Universe, the birth of stars, the creation of black holes, and the Solar System.

This trip gave us the opportunity to deepen things we had already studied, but we also learned many new things.

ACROSS THE LAKE

we sailed on the lake and discovered the typical flora, adomired the tipical birds e and saw the reconstruction of the stilts. Beautiful white swans.

We saw the typical flowers of the lake, the yellow water lilies.

Lazarakia – A Beautiful Greek Easter Tradition

Lazarakia is a traditional Greek custom that takes place on Lazarus Saturday, a few days before Easter. On this day, people remember the miracle of Jesus bringing his friend Lazarus back to

life. Lazarakia are small sweet breads shaped like little people. They are made with flour, yeast, sugar, cinnamon, and raisins. Usually, their arms are crossed, just like Lazarus was wrapped, and cloves or raisins are used for the eyes. In many parts of Greece, children carry little baskets and go from house to house singing the Lazarus carols. People give them eggs, sweets, or money. This tradition brings joy and reminds everyone of spring and hope.

Lazarakia is a custom that has been passed down from generation to generation and helps us learn more about the traditions of our country. Through these customs, we learn to appreciate the history and culture of Greece.

Recipe for Lazarakia

Ingredients

500 g bread flour

1 packet dry yeast

100 g sugar

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1 pinch ground cloves

250 ml warm water

80 ml olive oil

Raisins or cloves for the eyes

Instructions

In a large bowl, mix the warm water, yeast, and a little sugar. Stir well and leave it

for 10 minutes.

Add the flour, sugar, cinnamon, cloves, and olive oil.

Knead the dough well until it becomes soft and smooth.

Cover the dough and let it rise for about 1 hour.

Divide the dough into small pieces and shape them into little people with crossed arms.

Use raisins or cloves for the eyes.

Place the Lazarakia on a baking tray with baking paper and bake at 180°C for about 20–25 minutes, until golden brown.

The Lazarus Carols

Lazarus has come, the Palm Sunday is near,

the Sunday when people eat fish is here.

Wake up, Lazarus, do not sleep,

your mother has come back from the town,

she brought you paper and a rosary.

Write, Theodore, write, Dimitris,

write about the lemon tree and the cypress.

Your hens are laying eggs,

please give some to us, to make us glad.

And next year with good health,

may we come again with happiness!

Friendship & Empathy

A kindness jar to express friendship

We loved this activity because it allowed us to express kindness and friendship to our mates. We had to think of the qualities of our friend, say what we like most about them and what we would like to do together.

It is nice to stop and reflect a little more about our classmates and it feels good to listen and read positive things about oneself.

Grade 6 students at CEIP JM Boquera (Spain)

A Poetry Wall to express friendship

All of the students took time to write and illustrate their ideas and feeling related to friendship.

Poems took many different forms... from simple ones to more sophisticated!

Nevertheless, they all expressed how important it is to be and to have a good friend!

Earth with Kids:

Planet and Animals

Our students created creative posters and slogans about protecting our planet in order to raise environmental awareness. Through this activity, they had the opportunity to express their ideas through visual works while also developing awareness about our individual responsibilities for a sustainable future.

The posters included important messages about protecting nature, recycling, keeping the environment clean, and creating a more livable world. By working collaboratively, our students experienced the importance of being environmentally conscious individuals through a fun and educational activity. 🌍💚

SAVE MORE, WASTE LESS

Our Poster, Our Promise

This poster was created by the students of Grade 4 as part of our Environmental Awareness. We chose the slogan “Save More, Waste Less” because it is simple, easy to remember, and teaches an important lesson. We believe that small actions such as saving water, reusing materials, and recycling can make a big difference. This slogan inspires us to take care of our planet every day.

Why Earth Matters

Earth is our home. It gives us clean air to breathe, water to drink, food to eat, and beautiful places to enjoy. It is important for children to learn how to protect nature from a young age. By planting trees, reducing waste, recycling, and keeping our environment clean, we can help keep Earth healthy for future generations. Every child can make a positive change and help create a greener, happier world.

“Be the change. Save more, waste less.”

As students of Akşemseddin Secondary School, we believe that every living being deserves love, care, and respect. Following a brainstorming session, our first step has been to feed the stray animals in our neighborhood. We also demonstrate our appreciation for nature by observing and protecting the various animals and plants around us.

These small acts of kindness help make the world a better place for both animals and humans. By providing food, water, and care, we support animals in need and encourage others to be compassionate and responsible.

We are proud to contribute to a cleaner, greener, and animal-friendly environment. Together, we can make a positive difference through kindness, empathy, and respect for all living beings. 🐾🌿💚
