Objectives: Painting, prop artistry, sealing, and presentation.

    • Base coat → details → highlights & shadows
    • Sponging, dry-brushing, stippling, or woodgrain techniques
  2. Add embellishments (ribbon, string, beads, metallic touches).
  3. Apply sealant or Mod Podge for durability.

    • Decorative details (stars, snowflakes, initials, etc.)
  5. Sand rough edges and prep for painting or finishing.

Mini Project: Build a Realistic Everyday Object Prop

Students will research, design, and build a small, everyday prop that is commonly used onstage. The final product should look realistic from 10–15 feet away, be durable, and demonstrate strong prop artistry in construction, painting, and finishing.

The prop must:

  • Be stage-durable
  • Incorporate at least three different materials (never just cardboard or foam alone)
  • Show texture, aging, painting, or finishing techniques
  • Fit into a specific scene or production concept

Bellwork: Why should you not have your cellphone or earbuds while working backstage or on stage? Explain potential safety concerns for you and others.

Note: Cell Phones must be off and out of sight while in the class - If you wait until the tardy bell to put away your phone, it is already too late.

Be responsible.

Costumes: Clean up backstage area - costumes need to be on racks or put away.

Sound: Go to the Gym and bring back the two speakers, XLR cables from speakers to board - the dongle cord (RCA connector - not the ¼” connector.

Set - Leg up Platform (7 ¼” legs X 8)

  • Finish any outstanding Birdhouses.
  • Paint Sandwich boards
  • Pull one more platform - and leg-it-up (7 ¼” legs)
  • swap pink desk for brown (ticket booth)
  • swap desk chair with padded chair

Generally - we clean every day, so the theatre should be in good shape. On Fridays, we will do extra cleaning to end the week strong and prepare a fresh start the next week.
