The structure of electricity generation in Kazakhstan

The electric power potential of the Republic of Kazakhstan is formed by 65 power plants, the installed capacity of which as of January 1, 2017 amounted to 23.1 GW,

the available capacity - 18.7 GW.

In the structure of electricity generating capacities in Kazakhstan, the dominant position is occupied by thermal power plants operating on coal over 70%

  • New boilers with high efficiency and increased productivity (efficiency increase by 1-3%, productivity by 2 times, savings of more than 1 thousand tons of fuel equivalent, or in monetary terms about 2-3 billion tenge);
  • Increasing environmental friendliness and reliability (reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 18 thousand tons per year for all municipal boiler houses of the Republic of Kazakhstan; saving payments for emissions);
  • more than 140 efficient hot water boilers are already in operation in Almaty

Measures for decarbonization of coal energy

With the entry into force of the new edition of the Environmental Code from 01.07.21. before power engineers are toughened environmental requirements for the operation of power plants.

Purpose: study of atmospheric air on the territory of industrial enterprises, assessment of its quality and provision of processed data using specialized equipment.

The project is relevant in connection with the introduction of the "Rules for conducting automated monitoring of emissions into the environment during industrial environmental control and reporting requirements based on the results of industrial environmental control."

  • MSW reception, sorting and classification of waste, organization of SRF and RDF;
  • Primary purification of fresh filtrate on ash and slag filters;
  • Recycling of concentrate from filtrate evaporation ponds, use of recovered materials, spent filter material and adsorbent in the production of RDF
  • Partial substitution of fossil fuels for alternative ones (generation of heat and electric energy on renewable fuels).
  • utilization of current and / or accumulated ash and slag waste

  • Partial replacement of fossil fuels with RDF (renewable fuel). The expected replacement rate is 25% - 75%.
  • Partial replacement of fossil fuels with carbon from ash and slag waste from thermal power plants containing 7-10% carbon.
  • Partial replacement of natural clinker mineral raw materials (calcite, aluminosilicates, iron oxides), since these components are part of RDF.
