Attendance Policies. These are NEW !

As Per County Policy :

  • For students to be counted present during his/her assigned remote learning day, the student must be present on Microsoft Teams the entire session or class period. Attendance will be monitored during the entire session. Teachers have the authority to modify attendance if your child is not present for the entire session. Teachers will consider any technical issues or reasonable interruptions that may occur.
  • In the even there are technical difficulties, please email/remind message/canvas message/ contact ASAP and you will be counted present IF you complete the assignments for that day AND fill out the form which will be posted on canvas. Absent Form

Showing work on assignments

You will be required to show ALL work on assignments to receive full credit. If the assignment/test/quiz is in Aleks or another form, then there will be a place in canvas to upload the work. If you do not upload work, it will be an automatic 30 points off of your grade.

Late work

  • All work is expected to be turned in by the due date.
  • Aleks assignments will be due the night/day they are assigned and then open for 5 days after that for a late grade. The late grade is 25% off of whatever grade you get on the assignment. After that, an Aleks assignment may be reopened for a late grade of 50% off of whatever grade you get.
  • Worksheets in canvas are always open to be able to turn in. The worksheets are due the day/night that the assignment is given. The worksheets are considered to be late after I have put the grades in powerschool. A late worksheet grade is a 75.
  • IF you turn something in AFTER I have put it in powerschool, you need to EMAIL ME the assignment name so that I can grade it.
  • If you miss a test or quiz, you need to email me to schedule a makeup time.

Tests and Quizzes

  • Most tests and quizzes will be given on Fridays.
  • I expect you to use the honor policy and not cheat in any way. (look up answers, phone a friend, etc)
  • You may use notes on the tests and quizzes.

Typical Daily Schedule/Routine

  • Announcements and homework questions will be during the beginning of each teams meeting
  • Then you will watch a video lesson
  • Then complete the classwork/homework for the lesson. (I will live teach the students in school)
  • I will stay on the Teams call in case there are any questions during the lesson and homework. Students will be required to stay logged in for the full hour while they work on the video and homework unless I have said otherwise.

Grades and Powerschool

  • Make sure you and your parents can access powerschool. If you need access, email me and I can help you
  • I will enter comments in grades to show how long you have to make something up/etc
  • I will use the red dot to notify something is late and the yellow dot to notify something is missing, but won’t be counted late.
  • I will enter a 1 for any missing assignments.
  • I update grades every Friday. That is when makeup work will go in and when that week’s assignments will be graded.
  • Tests are 50% , Quizzes are 30% , and Classwork/homework is 20%. F2 is the average of Q3 and Q4 with a teacher made final exam worth 2 test grades in Q4

Contacting me

  • I highly encourage you to communicate with me through email, remind, and canvas if you need something!! Just understand that anything outside of school hours may not be responded to until the next school day!
  • When emailing me, please make sure to include your name in the email, and what class period you are in! That is helpful to me.
  • Also- remember that I am your TEACHER, not friend! So please be professional in your messages!

Fridays

Fridays are ASYNCHRONOUS, which means that you complete assignments that I post in canvas. If you need to meet with me on a Friday, you need to email me by Thursday during school hours to set up an appointment. Your attendance for those days depend on you doing the assignment!

Class

Ask Questions!!!!! I will not know what to help you with if you don’t ASK QUESTIONS when you have them! I want to help you and make sure you have the best opportunity for success. In the virtual environment, you have to advocate for yourself to make sure you get what you need from me while we are meeting. If you ask a question, it is easiest if you talk in the teams meeting, but if you have a quick/easy one you can use the chat feature as well!
