Middle School Accelerated Pathways

Benefits

  • Allow students to access rigor coursework aligned to their interests and abilities
  • Lessens the need for students to “double-up” science courses in high school
  • Allow students to create space in their high school schedule for additional high level science and math course options
  • Can lead to performance acknowledgements, college-credit opportunities, and early graduation (if desired)

Middle School Accelerated Pathways

Important to note:

  • The accelerated pathway should align with student interests and abilities.
  • The pathways are open-enrollment to all interested students.
  • Auto-enrollment applies currently to Math Accel I, with lists generated by assessment and distributed to campuses to cross-reference.
  • 6th graders are not involved in activities that would be impacted by no pass, no play rules.
  • Students who are not successful in the 6th grade year can take the on level version of the subject area course in 7th grade.
