Voyager Programs

  • In 1977, NASA launches two probes: Voyager 1 and Voyager 2
  • Their primary mission was to collect data from our Solar System
  • Their secondary mission was to act as a time capsule from Earth for extraterrestrials to intercept and interpret

  1. Greetings from 59 languages and a whale
  2. A sound essay
  3. EKG readings of a woman in love
  4. Pictures of our societies, civilizations, science
  5. Music of today and the past (and other cultures)

Create your own

version of the Golden Record

Your golden record must include:

  1. Album Cover & TrackList
    • See next slide
  2. An introduction to your record
    • This is a short letter to the aliens (3-5 sentences)
  3. 5 (or more) UNIQUE sounds, songs, words, greetings, etc
    • Must represent Earth as a whole: Think history, culture, nature, human, animals…
    • Be creative!
  4. 5 (or more) images that encompass or define Earth

You may use Google Slides to compile all of your sounds, Youtube to find the sounds, your phone to make more sounds, or another site that is appropriate and effective!

Album Cover

Every record has a record or album cover. Come up with a creative way to represent the soundtrack you put together from Earth.

Cover must include:

  • Color
  • Unique album art representing the soundtrack
  • Title of the album
  • All track listings
