Goal: To optimized BIRE the frame to reduce mass without sacrificing rigidity or strength

FEA focused on 4 main areas:

  1. Topology Optimization to minimize weight
  2. Linear Deflection to maximize stiffness
    1. Bearing Housings
    2. Ring Gear Support
    3. Outboard Deflection

3. Buckling to eliminate instabilities

4. Modal Analysis to reduce flutter potential

Topology Optimization: Used TORSI to interpret frame into usable design

Linear Deflection: SolidWorks simulation over multiple design iterations to find best outcome

Modal Analysis: SolidWorks simulation frequency study to determine natural frequency of frame under load

Bearing Housing: 6 Designs Tested

Linear Deflection: Ring Gear Support

Modal Analysis: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Modes
