EARLY YEARS FOUNDATION STAGE
The Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum is based on the recognition that from when your child is born up until the age of 5, their early years experience should be happy, active, exciting, fun and secure; and support their development, care and learning needs.
As children grow, the Prime areas will help them develop skills in 4 Specific areas:
FIRST WEEK AT SCHOOL
NURSERY – PHASED INDUCTION PROGRAMME
Nursery
For the first week beginning Wednesday 2nd September 2026, the Nursery children will be attending part-time – either a morning session or an afternoon session.
We will be asking parents to indicate their preferred choice and will try our best to accommodate this, but may not be able to meet everybody’s preference due to statutory adult : child ratios.
Our morning sessions for the first week: 8.45am – 11.15am.
Our afternoon sessions for the first week: 12.30pm – 3pm.
(Please note, Nursery children will not be eating dinner at school in the first week)
Once our experienced Nursery Team feel that your child is ready to manage a full school day (e.g. toilet-trained, emotionally ready), we will inform parents.

PARENT PARTNERSHIP
GETTING TO KNOW YOUR CHILDIn order to help us get to know your child, and to help support them in their learning, this year we are asking all parents to provide school with a copy of your child’s 2 Year Check which was completed with your Health Visitor. We are also asking parents to complete an Ages & Stages Questionnaire (appropriate for your child’s age) at home with your child before they join us in the Nursery Transition in September. This is a fantastic tool which we can use to check your child’s development and plan their next steps. Please complete this as accurately as you can so that we can gain a really good picture of your child’s development. ON WEDNESDAY 2ND SEPTEMBER, PLEASE BRING WITH YOU:* YOUR CHILD’S 2 YEAR CHECK (WE CAN TAKE A PHOTOCOPY)* YOUR CHILD’S COMPLETED AGES & STAGES QUESTIONNAIRE
