When I saw the video on Rooster Teeth saying that Monty had passed I couldn’t believe it. I had no idea what medical emergency he was going through but I couldn’t have expected what happened. Monty inspires me, not just because he was an animator, but also because he was someone who lived, breathed, and slept specifically to serve the community and help us enjoy Roosterteeth’s content to an even fuller extent than before. To me the most tragic thing about his death was that he spent so many hours contributing to the community, but in the end, the community was unable to help him because of what had happened to him. Of all the people that this could’ve happened to, Monty was the last person I would’ve thought of. And the thing that makes me the saddest is that RWBY was Monty’s brain child and I think it was definitely his magnum opus and now he will never see its completion. Monty, if you’re somewhere, out there as a ghost, God knows that you probably are, I hope you realize how much you meant and still mean to everyone here and in the community.

He was one of the most amazing, interesting, coolest people I haven’t got the pleasure of knowing, and thats my biggest regret. Whenever he appeared in content, i was very excited because I really loved seeing him appear. i loved his mental approach on life. I was watching an interview with him and some guys, who were pretty unknown, but Monty just started talking to them like they were real buddies, and that's what was coolest about him. Yeah he was an amazing talent, and he was extremely inspirational, but on top of all of that, he was a great human being. As Matt said: he never criticized anyone’s work, or said that their work was bad. Monty was just happy that the creator was being creative and unique. That’s why Monty liked everyone, everyone was unique. Everyone was creative. Everyone, in turn, loved Monty, Because he was so open.

Being a fan from Season 2 RvB, it all looked very amazing when Monty became a lead animator. He contributed so much to the show and to his other shows. He was a major badass and obviously no one could match his wisdom and intelligence. It’s amazing how just one man can completely change the world because of his badass skills. He was a great friend to us all, to the RT department, to his fans, and even to strangers. What’s great is that his work defined him and that’s what made him incredible. He left behind an unfinished legacy, but he did leave behind gifts for us all. GIfts as in lessons. In every tweet, RWBY episode, and interaction with a fan, there is ALWAYS a hidden lesson. I’ll keep this short.
Monty, you’re an amazing person, and you will be missed. I will not say goodbye, but I will say “see you later.” I hope you’re having fun playing DDR with your unlimited quarters and making as much animation as you want. Monty, thank you for offering your creative mind to the world. It has been admired and inspired by so many people (Myself included). I started watching you when Dead Fantasy came out, I was speechless when I saw how amazing everything looked. Then when I noticed that you stop working on Dead Fantasy for a little bit, I kinda got dissapointed. Prior to RWBY I started making my own animations, my own characters but they didn’t look so good and a lot of people discouraged me because of it. Feeling uninspired I decided to just stop everything that I did, because I thought it would be all worthless. Then a few months later, my friend showed me the Red trailer for RWBY and when I saw your name, I screamed (literally, like it was in class and then everyone stared at me weirdly).

Honestly, I did not know you until I accidentally discovered RWBY. Let me just say that accidentally running into the trailers was one of the best experiences in my life. You have such creativity, so unique, that I was completely hooked and could not wait for the series to start. Like you said in one of the Production Diary videos, it had a “certain spark” that no other animation has. I also noticed, when I had watched the Diaries, how much passion and thought you put into your work for the second season. You put so much effort on getting things just a certain way, which brings out the best of RWBY. I’ve been a fan of your work for years (Haloid and Dead Fantasy). I first remembered you for your animations before working on Red Vs. Blue. When you did the fight sequences for RVB, I was blown away. When I saw the first trailer for RWBY, I was in love with it from that moment. RWBY was one of the main reasons I got back into watching anime again. My first cosplay was as Ruby Rose at AX 2014, and I loved it. I miss you so much already. Monty has been an inspiration for 8 long years and honestly, they were awesome ones thanks to him. Monty was the main reason why I got attracted to Roosterteeth and honestly, I thank him for that. As Barbara said, RT is more than just a community, it’s a family and honestly, I’m glad to be part of it even if I am the quiet person.
Monty’s words of his resolve touched me to the point that I went for almost about a week of sleepless nights. He has been a role model for me since day one that I found out about him since I found out about Haloid and DF. To me, he was like a teacher that cannot be replaced, an inspiration that drove me to push my limits for the very first time. I’ve even dreamt of working side by side with Monty Oum one day.
Thorugh all of his works from past until now, I’ve seen that willpower and dedication he’s had for so long. I am currently going to start college in 3Dsense Media School. I may have a background in drawing but thanks to Monty, I want to give myself a background in animations, something that he, himself inspire me to do so.

I remember vividly the first time I saw the trailer for the major fight scene with Tex in season 8 of RvB. Although I had heard of your work before, I had not realized what I was about to watch when I sat down and began that very trailer. From that moment on, I was permanently hooked on your work. Upon hearing about you creating RWBY, I knew that it would be something special. I was so excited to see your dream come to life.

It's a tragedy that Monty Oum has passed away, and he will clearly be missed by all three f's, his friends, his family and his fans. He was lucky enough to have all these things and yet tragically he was taken away far too soon. I have my problems with rwby but not with him, never with him. He was a clearly talented man with ability far above so many of his peers and yet I can't imagine him doing anything but inspiring with his ability and uses it to the most that he could. I was eating with my mom, so I had to hold in the tears until I reached my bedroom, where I broke down. Then I thought, “Monty doesn’t like this. Ever since I saw Haloid I’ve been admiring your work even though I didn’t know you were the same person animating Red vs Blue at first. Then came along your brain child Rwby and I was completely captivated by it. And despite everyone’s best efforts here, no amount of words can describe our love, respect, and admiration for you. With you gone, much is left uncertain. I didn’t know Monty’s work that much, but when I saw Haloid I knew this guy was going to go far with his talent. To my surprise I saw he was working with my favortie company Rooster Teeth. Seeing his work on Red vs. Blue made me love his work even more, and thats when I started following him on twitter, and looking at his deviant art. At the end of RvB season 10 I saw the Red trailer for RWBY. Just watching it made me sit it awe, I had to watch it. RWBY was Monty’s child in a sense. It was an idea he held onto for years and he finally got the chance to bring it to life. Though his work on it was not long, he did an amazing job, and left us with a story that has reached peoples hearts. I know RWBY will continue as he would want it too. Monty we all miss you very much and we adored your work. You’re in a better place now and my deepest condolences are with your family and the co-workers that cared for you so deeply. Even though I did not watch or listen to all of what Monty did, my heart goes out to all the RT employees, and his friends and family. Its so hard to lose someone you love, and that was such a big part of a company, and life. He left behind a lot, but so much of it was good. The amount of love and passion he had for the show was showed. His imagination and creativity added something to the world that we will never forget. I think it's important that we remember his accomplishments and be inspired by them. As said, go out and create. Be imaginative. Make things. Add to the world, no matter how good or bad you might think you are. It's the best way to remember him. As long as we keep thinking of him, he never truly dies. After all, memory is the key.
I’ve never been more inspired by one single person to do what I love and live life to the fullest then Monty. He put his all into every single thing he imagined and I was lucky to share RWBY with my own niece. It’s her favorite show and she frequently draws Ruby and her friends fighting monsters. Monty will live in on in everyone who had the pleasure of seeing the things he created. He was a lesson that you could really do anything you put your mind to and my biggest regret is never getting the chance to express how much hope he’s given me and my family. I’ll miss you Monty, we all will.
I’ve only ever known Monty for his work, but nevertheless from the first episode of RWBY he was my hero. Seeing such a talent leave the world so young is devastating, but I know that he’ll be doing what he loves up in Heaven.

February 1st was a day that the hearts of many felt crushed and anguished. I am one of those many. I first noticed your Dead Fantasy. That was awhile ago, and that was when I noticed the great talent you had. When the RWBY trailers came out, I had this tingling feeling of excitement. I was thinking 'Monty Oum's making a series, it has to be wonderful', and it was. I grew attached to the characters and to that world you created and so much more. I remember talking animatedly with my friends about the new episodes whenever they came out. You cheered me up on my down days and brought a light back into my eyes when I felt that I could only see darkness. You were a genius. You still are a genius. This world wasn't prepared to lose a wonderful soul like you. It hit us all in the heart like a bomb. Although you may be gone, you still live on. You live on in the videos you made, in your animations,and in the stories you have created. You live on in the inspiration that you have given us. You live on in our hearts. That won't ever change even a hundred years from now. I will continue to adore your works in the future and will never forget you.

I never knew you personally and I will always wish I had a chance to meet you, but your passing was difficult for me as though a close friend had died. I don’t know quite what to say, accept that i’m sorry for everyone at Rooster Teeth, and I’m sorry for Monty’s family. I’ve been following both Rooster Teeth and Monty’s work since I was in middle school, and they always brought a smile to my face while I endured several tragedies during that time. Monty & Rooster Teeth not only lifted my spirits, but inspired me to follow & (hopefully) fulfill my own dreams of being a writer, artist, and founder my own multi-media publisher. Monty, I remember back when you first started doing stuff at RT. I remember seeing the warthog break through the wall in Valhalla and losing my shit. I watched you grow as an animator and when you got to make your own show, it was amazing and I was so excited for you. You inspired me to go back to art, to re-embrace my creative side and my music, and to be a better person and student. I never got to meet you in person, and now I guess I never will, not for a while, at least.. But your spirit will live on in the effect that you had on everyone around you and the works that you’ve created and you’ve inspired. I love you Monty, we all do, and we all miss you dearly.

I knew about you since I was just in middle school. Even as a kid, I loved videogames, and Final Fantasy and Dead or Alive was a few of my favorites series. Imagine my surprise when this guy I saw on the internet did a mashup of those two series, creating some of the most fluid animation possible. As the years went by, I saw your works, got inspired by you, and loved that you followed your dreams right till the end. It’s thanks to you that I’m following my own dreams, so even if you aren’t with us now, you are always with us in your hearts and memories.

It can be said that the whole is worth more than the sum of its parts. On Sunday Rooster Teeth and indeed a larger community lost a part undeniably instrumental to making it what it is today. In my heart and mind there will always be the Rooster Teeth of being and the Rooster Teeth of becoming. To me Monty Oum will always be part of the former which I will never forget. Monty, Today I came home from school to have my mom tell me you passed. Now I know we never met but you were one of my biggest role models. While I didn’t really watch RWBY, I can just remember the amount of stories that Monty has had to tell. From the Microwave, to his own keyboard, Monty really made a way to make sure that every moment of his life was well spent. He made sure to do things that he wanted to do and did it as he wanted to. This has lead me to realize that I should start taking every moment of my live and try to make the most of it. Monty, While you may not be with Us anymore, your legacy will live on in us.

Thank you for everything you have done. I, like many others, are deeply devastated by your passing. I am still in disbelief. You left behind in this world a loving family and because of your passion, you created the most amazing and most individualistic show: RWBY. Just yesterday, I was singing “Time To Say Goodbye” and for me and everyone, it wasn’t time for you, Monty. If I had to pick one of all of my favorite shows and movies included, I would -- no competition -- choose RWBY. The characters, the universe, those MESSAGES, the humor, and the meaning of friendship was all there and I never expected to find anything like that in one series whose episodes only lasted a minimum of five minutes for the first volume. That’s incredible, Monty. I have no friends and RWBY taught me a lot of things that true friends like that do exist. You inspired me to finally write after several years of procrastinating to do as something as amazing as yours and I know that if I shared it with you, you would’ve liked the premise. I wanted to so badly and you have no idea how long I’ve been scavenging for anything RWBY like dolls (I love collecting dolls and plushes alike) of RWBY and JNPR. I can’t say that there’s one character that fully embodies me because those two teams do (let’s not forget Penny and Sun Wukong!). I love you, Monty Oum. I love everything you have done and I’m sure you’ve done more than RWBY. Your family must be so proud of you. Monty Oum: An inspiration
When I first saw Monty and heard about him. i was very surprised. This man works 18 hours a day, seven days a week. Whenever he’s not working, he’s sleeping. Yet he did not look any older nor did he look tired. He Genuinely enjoyed his work and I would think why not? He has a wonderful career and wonderful workmates that he calls friends. I thought, he has a wonderful life ahead of him. Then the news hit me. I thought this was just a sick joke until I looked at the post and it struck me. Right now I am still shocked by it. I only would like to say this. Even though I have never met Monty, i could say that the life that he had, was one that he enjoyed to the fullest. He is an irreplaceable member of the Rooster Teeth family. My thoughts and Prayers are with his Family. I hope Roosterteeth will honour him by continuing his Legend, in this life or the next. Life is a strange thing, its cut too short for some and lasts longer for others.
I never met Monty, but he seems like the kind of person I would have gotten along with. Someone driven to a goal and most importantly someone extremely creative. As an aspiring author, I take a lot of inspiration from people like Monty. The world has lost a truly gifted individual.

I always loved Monty and the way he is just the most unique person ever, he never disappointed anyone and never stopped working. I never met him, and when he was alive i wouldn't of thought that he had a big impact on my life, until he passed away. Burnie said that he was sick, in critical condition and said that they don't know “if” he’ll recover, but despite this i just thought “Oh, thats sad, i hope he gets better soon” but i said it under the assumption that he was going to be fine in a week or so. For a second i thought “what if he dies?” but i quickly dismissed that thought and never came back to it because i thought it was stupid and impossible. But then i found out he died, and i've been obsessing and denying it since.

After that all my choices were driven towards learning and improving my creative skills if only to get a touch closer to be as talented as you Monty. Absolution devotion and undying dedication are the two aspects that made this man the king of the work place of man. A truly unique persona, a true individual, a craftsman of dreams. Monty was the living aspiration and the pinnacle of human effort. He saw want he wanted, knew what he needed to do, and did not let anyone tell him otherwise.
While it is a tragedy that he is no longer with us, we have to be thankful just because fate gave us the chance to allow us to know him. We cannot remain sullen on the fact that he is gone but instead find happiness the fact he was here in the first place.
I can not describe what Monty meant to me as I always admired his work ethic and diligence towards following and making his dreams a reality. Unfortunately it came to fruition that I had taken Monty for granted as I had not allowed his model to truly inspire me. I had not worked towards my goals the way he would have and the ladders to my floating palace have began to decay and crack due to neglect. To this I say no more! Not only for me, but for the others who have let their dreams begin to defer. We shall not give up our climb to accomplishment. We shall not let the road we have begun to carve wash over with the foliage of failure! We shall work until we reach the level dedication and growth of which Monty had reached! I sincerely hope the Roosterteeth community and the rest of the world join me in living in Monty’s shadow as we begin the journey to match his resolve.

When I heard about your death in school, I instantly started to cry. You inspired me to create my own RWBY team and learn how to draw, but after you died, I didn’t feel like completing it, because what’s the point of creating RWBY teams if my inspiration isn’t there to see it? But a friend of mine today said, “Don’t give up on your dreams. he’s in a better place now, watching you, so you should do it for him and make him proud.” So from now on, every RWBY thing I do from now on is for you, never failing to inspire me when I feel hopeless and always making me feel good on a bad day. From the first time I saw the Warthog crash through the wall in RvB I was amazed by your work. I watched the fight scene with Tex on loop for hour after hour watching every little detail that you added. RWBY has mesmerized me and left me wanting more each and every week, the fight scenes, the characters, everything so beautifully constructed. It’s just such a shame that you won’t be there to see the end of the show that you planned so well and worked on so hard on.
You have touched so many people and I just hope there is a way that you can see the effect that you have had on others, i’m sure you would be proud. It is a dream of mine to one day go to RTX and it hurts me so much that I will never get to meet the man that has given me such wonderful entertainment throughout the years. But as you said yourself, you have to ‘Keep moving forward’ and I know that you wouldn't stand for any of the RT Staff or the RT Community for not doing so.

It isn’t fair Monty, you were so talented, and that someone like you would die. Someone who loved people and his work and cared so much. You were far too young and I only recently started looking at your work, and I can’t imagine it being the same with you gone. To never have met you I can’t believe the amount of pain I’m feeling right now, how heartbroken I am over someone I’ve never even met. But Monty if anyone deserves tears its you, I never imagined someone who could care so much about others and what he does to where the money doesn’t even matter. Your intentions were so pure, you just wanted to create, I can’t imagine why someone like you would die. If you did this much with your life in 33 years I can’t even imagine the impact you would have had in 33 more. The RT community loves you Monty, until your death I never knew how invested I was in RT. But after crying over your death I see now that it is a family and I wish you could still be here so I could’ve met you. Monty, you are the brightest light that will ever shine in this world, so I hate that you had to fade away at only 33, over a simple medical procedure that caused an allergy, it just doesn’t seem right. None of this makes sense to me, you should have lived a lot longer and made so much more and improved constantly, I wish I could see what you had planned for the future, I really do. You will never be forgotten, you made great things and its just sad that so much potential and greatness is now gone. Keep moving forward, for Monty. When I first found out about RWBY, I was shocked. It was beautiful, and probably the best animation I’ve seen. I was equally as surprised when I found out that some people didn’t like it. I continued watching it, and then season 1 ended, and season 2 came out. I was jumpy as hell when I watched it. I finished season 2, and I remained in the fandom, waiting for season 3 to come out.
But now, as I know this information, I know that Monty Oum is not alive. And with that, RWBY and everything else he worked on and created shall go along with him, but Monty himself shall always stay in our hearts. We shall never forget the impact he made on the internet, otherwise known as RWBY. I’m very thankful someone like him existed.
And he shall continue to exist. Deep down in our hearts.

I remember when I first saw Dead Fantasy on Youtube back when I was in College; I was blown away, captivated as I was I had to follow the story to the end but I didn’t see anymore, instead you moved on forever working away making something even greater, making what most may of thought to be impossible or far out of reach achievable ~ you inspired so many people, gaining so many new fans and friends. My schools talent show will be this Friday, and I was given the privilege of ending it with a song called"Lifer" by my favorite band, I think this one word does justice in describing Monty, so I plan on dedicating my performance to his life, and what he accomplished in the short time he had, like Burnie said, it's like he was almost aware of the little time he had because how much he was always working towards accomplishing. I can honestly say that I feel privileged to be able to appreciate the work Monty did, and to have just a rough idea of the effort that went into the things he did, and, really I'm just astounded by his work ethic, and his high standards for the work he created, and that he rarely ever didn't NOT exceed his own standards as far as he had raised them, and I'm truly envious of the people who not just got to work with him personally on a day to day basis, but the people that even just to have a physical and personal interaction even slightly with Monty, that was something I admired to do at some point. But, his work will still be admired by me and millions of others, with that number growing every day. His accomplishments will always be awed upon in the back of my mind.

I remember seeing Dead Fantasy early in high school, which inspired me to think about animating as a career. Later, I was inspired to create video games, then it became storytelling and writing. The world didn't deserve to lose someone so great, Monty was, and will always be the most amazing person I've ever heard of. While I was never able to meet you, I would have been honored to have even see you in person. Knowing how i act, i probably wouldn't be able to even talk because of how much I'd be fraking out. Monty I just can’t believe it. I kept telling myself that everything was gonna be ok. It just isn’t fair. Although you have become an inspiration to me to start getting into animation, photoshop, and your best trait fashion. Man o man I did have some great memories from your work. When I saw the Red trailer for RWBY I just knew that this was gonna be great. You have done so much work with RvB and RWBY that has inspired many people to this day. You have even sacrificed so much time to this company that it really stands out from who you really are. And now that you’re truly gone, it just isn’t gonna feel the same without you around. You have completed so much in your life even if it was short. And if I know you, you’re probably working up in heaven trying to entertain the people up there just like you did with everyone here. I would just like to say thank you so much for giving me the inspiration for what I really wanted to become. I hope that someday I will see you on the other side so I can thank you in person. He became an inspiration to me the first time I learned about him. That was of course when I saw the trailer for RWBY. In a way he helped me and my best friend meet each other through a RWBY community post site. I owe him for that. In every way he was an amazing person, and an inspiration to is all. I remember when I met you at PAX 2014, I was so scared of what I was going to say, I ended up just being really awkward l. When I finally said that because of your work on RWBY, RVB, etc. I was inspired to create and work on my own animated series, I remembered that made you smile. And that it cut that awkward air I was feeling. 'Yeah man, just keep at it!' you said. I'll never forget those words. I'm sorry that I asked you those questions that you may have heard all the time. I'm sorry that I didn't have the courage to stay and talk to you about anime, kpop, and all the ideas I have to share with you and the crew at Rooster Teeth. My only wish now is that I could be half the man as you were. To create and never stop creating, and to never yield the fight to refine these ideas. I’m taking your advice to heart.I don't know how long it's going to take me, but you showed not only me but every one of your fans that it is possible to achieve goals we put forth. To be completely honest, it’s absolutely heartbreaking to hear that you’ve passed away Monty, I knew very little about you or your work before you’d come into Rooster Teeth. Though, when you became a part of their crew, I immediately loved the type of person you were and how you had so much energy about you. As I’m writing this, it’s still almost unbelievable and I want it all to be a very bad joke. Yet, I know it isn’t and I can understand now that possibly one of the most amazing and genius content creators has been taken from us. There are few words I can say, or even come up with to properly describe the remorse and sadness I feel to know that such a wonderful person and hard worker has been cut off so short. �
I do honestly hope, that if there is a heaven, hell, or even afterlife that you will live in peace and harmony, or at the very least be able to continue to make amazing things. Granted, these are merely wishes. You were an inspiration to many, and will remain as such for as long as your memory stand strong. There are so few people in this world that had the sheer driving force you did, and there are very few people that will ever reach that and make such an impact. One lyric from the song of your creation now stands so true, and it’s possibly the saddest thing that hits me the hardest.

It's hard to believe that someone I've never even met has made such an impact on my life. Monty was and always will be my inspiration. I've been a fan ever since I saw that warthog bust through the wall in RvB, and then I found out about Haloid and Dead Fantasy. Then, you made RWBY, which was basically your child. I instantly fell in love with it, and I stand by the fact that you are a true creative genius. With a future of computer animation ahead of me, you will continue to inspire me. It’s a shame that whenever I finally go to RTX, I’ll never get to meet you. I'll never forget you, and neither will anyone else. It's a shame that the brighter lights burn twice as fast. I met Monty in the starbucks in my hotel last RTX. He was honestly the nicest dude ever, we talked about stuff for a while and then I had to go meet some friends for dinner. Truly an inspirational dude and a all around good guy. We will miss ya Monty

I had always wanted to meet Monty, he was my inspiration to go into voice acting, seeing his passion about the things he loves, made me determined to accomplish my passion. Monty, I’ve only ever seen you from afar but you have made a huge impact on my life and many others. Although they are unable to express how they feel, a comment from my friend summed up how he feels everyone should deal with it:

It’s all happy, sad, angry, betrayal, bittersweet, acceptance, and denial. To know that I’ve never got the chance to meet the man that has had such a big impact on me. I’ll never be able to say “Thank you...” to you and that breaks my heart. At your passing I feel lost and don’t know what to do, I just wanna give up and really question “why?”. Thank you, for inspiring me. Your works of art over the years, and your contributions to Rooster Teeth have made me want to make others smile. I want to entertain people (acting, comedy, maybe YouTube or even animation.) when I get older, and you and others at Rooster Teeth have shown me just how big of a difference that can make in others lives.
I know it’ll be hard; entertainment and acting aren’t an easy business to get into these days. But seeing the way you’ve touched people’s hearts over the past few years, it’s gonna’ push me and I know that it’ll be worth it when it’s all said and done. You’re proof of that.

I've watched you since the Dead Fantasy era. I've followed you as a fan because I thought you were extremely talented, and you were definitely inspiring. Over time you became a.. well, legacy, someone I definitely looked up to. It's extremely upsetting what has happened, but I think we all know you wouldn't want us to be sad, it's inefficient!
