General terms
Solar panels: Installation of solar panels on the roof to harness solar energy and reduce reliance on the conventional power grid.
Thermal insulation: Use of high-quality materials for thermal insulation of walls, ceilings, and floors, reducing the need for heating and cooling.
Water recycling: Implementation of rainwater collection and filtration systems for use in garden irrigation or toilet flushing.
Natural ventilation: Designing the house with large windows and strategically placed vents to allow for the entry of fresh air and natural circulation.
Sustainable materials: Utilization of eco-friendly and recycled building materials, such as certified wood, recycled bricks, and non-toxic paints.
Sustainable houses are designed constructions to reduce their environmental impact and maximize energy efficiency. They use eco-friendly materials, renewable energy technologies, and smart design practices to minimize natural resource consumption and carbon emissions.
STRENGTHS
1-Presence of protected natural areas, contributing to the conservation of local fauna and flora.
2-Big areas of aerogenerators, which produce renewable energy.
In the Campo de Gibraltar, the Alcornocales Natural Park stands out for its richness in biodiversity, hosting a wide variety of plant and animal species. Additionally, the presence of the Estrecho Natural Park contributes to the conservation of unique coastal ecosystems and the protection of endangered species, such as the Iberian imperial eagle.

WEAKNESSES
1- air pollution due to the presence of industries.
2- lack of precipitation, causing droughts and desertification.
In the Campo de Gibraltar, some of the industries associated with pollution are the Cepsa Refinery in San Roque or the Fertiberia chemical plant in Palmones, Los Barrios.
Also, the main swamps that provide water in the area, like the Charco Redondo one, are almost empty due to droughts.

Tulcea, Romania: strengths:
1. Yet, the residents of Tulcea are increasingly adopting energy-efficient methods, such as installing solar panels, with the aim of reducing their ecological impact. One of the most popular electrical companies in the area is Spiru Electra S.R.L. They offer a wide array of alternative energy services for homeowners to choose from, and they are collaborating with the "Casa Verde" state program to make them more accesible, thus increasing the green-energy demand. As Tulcea prioritizes home sustainability, the city is making significant progress towards a more resilient and environmentally responsible community.
2. Another company is Ingeteam. They are a complete solution provider for wind OEMs. They design, develop, manufacture and provide a comprehensive range of electrical components for wind turbines, and also O&M services for a complete range of wind turbines, offering a tailored solution to meet every project’s requirements. They have manufacturing facilities in Europe, Asia, North and South America, and sales and service centers strategically located all over the world to deliver the most efficient and specialized support and services.
Tulcea, Romania: weaknesses
1. Within our city, a significant concern arises from the scarcity of eco-friendly housing options. The majority of residences adhere to traditional construction methods, primarily due to the substantial expenses associated with eco-conscious alternatives. Additionally, many elders still live in traditional houses with structures that do not permit further modernization, being built with adobe, mud or straw; or the marshy soil completely eliminates the option of building in our area.
2. A drawback to the citizens that are making efforts to further reduce their carbon footprint is caused by the Alum, a highly polluting aluminum refinery that produces approximately 600.000 tons of material per year, hindering any progress made so far.

Two strengths in Gliwice:
Firstly, Gliwice invests in renewable energy. They focus on developing solar panels and wind farms, which allow for the use of clean energy from renewable sources. One wind farm has been built in Wielowieś near Gliwice. This helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution.
Secondly, they promote electromobility. Gliwice is building electric vehicle charging stations, encouraging residents to use electric vehicles. This helps reduce emissions and improve air quality in the city.
Another positive impact on environmental protection in Gliwice is the traffic control system, which helps alleviate traffic congestion on the busiest roads in our city.
Two weakness in Gliwice:
Initial Cost: Implementing energy and resource-efficient technologies in buildings often requires significant upfront investment. In an area like Silesia, where economic conditions may already be strained due to the decline of traditional industries, these initial costs can be a barrier to adoption. upfront investment. In an area like Silesia, where economic conditions may already be strained due to the decline of traditional industries, these initial costs can be a barrier to adoption.
Maintenance and Expertise: Energy-efficient buildings often require specialized maintenance and expertise to ensure they continue to operate optimally. In a region where such expertise may be scarce or costly, maintaining these buildings could be challenging.
Regulatory Hurdles: Regulatory frameworks and building codes may not adequately support or incentivize energy and resource-efficient construction practices in Silesia. This can discourage developers from investing in these technologies due to concerns about compliance and potential legal issues.
Energy and resource-efficient buildings in Serbia have gained increasing importance as the country strives to adopt sustainable practices and mitigate environmental impact. One notable strength is the growing awareness and commitment to green building initiatives. In cities like Belgrade and Novi Sad, there is a rising interest in energy-efficient construction, with developers and homeowners recognizing the long-term benefits of reduced energy consumption and lower utility costs.
Another strength lies in the potential for significant energy savings. As Serbia faces challenges in ensuring a stable energy supply, the implementation of energy-efficient building practices can contribute to energy security. Modern technologies such as improved insulation, energy-efficient heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, and smart building design can lead to reduced energy demand, easing the burden on the national grid and supporting sustainable energy goals.

However, weaknesses persist in the form of limited financial incentives and support for energy-efficient projects. The initial cost of incorporating green technologies into building projects can be a deterrent for many developers and property owners, hindering the widespread adoption of sustainable construction practices. Additionally, a lack of comprehensive regulations and strict enforcement mechanisms poses a challenge. The absence of clear guidelines and penalties for non-compliance may lead to inconsistent implementation of energy-efficient standards across different regions.
Another weakness is the need for increased public awareness and education regarding the benefits of energy-efficient buildings. While there is a growing interest, a substantial portion of the population remains uninformed about the positive impact of green construction on the environment and their daily lives. Addressing this gap through educational campaigns and outreach programs is essential to fostering a broader societal commitment to sustainable building practices in Serbian cities.
