Project Updates
Track Improvement Summary
The estimate is $196,000 to renovate the track
The track can be widened and resurfaced. The track is currently 4.5 feet wide, the estimate is to widen the track to 7 feet wide. It would have two lanes that are 3 feet each plus a 6 inch shoulder on each side.
A rubberized surface will be added to the track and sections with pavement damage will be repaired.
The work can be scheduled for Summer 2026 and should take about a month to complete.
BSE is able to contribute $150,000 from modernization funds, leaving $46,000 to complete the project - which BSCO has available in reserves.
Does the community want to pursue this project?
Community Vote
The vote opens tonight and will be available to the community for an additional nine (9) days.
Please go to the Zoom chat to find the link to vote.
Learning Garden
With community support, the Learning Garden improvement project is underway. In November the space cleared of the rotting boxes, weeds, and damaged picnic table.
The next phase, which includes a weed barrier and rock for drainage is being pursued now.
5th Grade students have participated in an art project that will be gifted to the school and displayed in the garden along the chain-link fence.
Gym Floor Improvements
The Facility Improvement Request for the work to the gym floor was denied by the district, citing that
Potential improvements may be possible through Bond funds in future years.
Pantry Provisions Pilot Program
Jennifer Cade, our school social worker, has received feedback from participating families that the gift card program is a better fit than the backpack program. Families have cited:
"I thank you when you give us cards because I use them for fruits and vegetables. It is a great help that you give us. God bless all the people who make it possible. Thank you very much."
- quote from a family receiving support from the BSE pantry.
Additionally, BSCO has started a donation account to support times when school is out for a more extended length of time. Money can be donated anytime by using a QR code and all funds will be forwarded to supporting the Pantry’s efforts to ensure our students are fed.

Suggestions for Success
Our by-laws allow for 11 people to sit on the BSCO Board. There is flexibility around how those 11 individuals are organized.
You can job-share a role: Director of Volunteers has been a two-person position in the past. Do you have a friend that you work well with and want to split a board role? Great! Each of you will need to submit an application and include a note that you are co-applying with the name of your partner.
Out-going board members are available to help you start your new role. There is a period of transition and most former board members are happy to answer any questions throughout the year.
Additional Member At Large Roles cannot be filled until all board positions are filled.
Apply early! The board can answer any questions you have before your name is proposed to be voted in at the Spring Community Meeting.
How to know if you are a good fit for BSCO?
Do you want to volunteer but have limited time available during the day?
Are you interested in forward-planning?
Do you like to know what is happening at Bonny Slope?
Are you interested in supporting BSE and making a difference in the lives of students?
You can submit an application for consideration for the 2025-26 board on the BSCO website on the “BSCO Board and Business” page.
Thank you
