Some things to consider:

  • Although your child will be supervised throughout the trip by program leaders and chaperones, there is some level of independence that is required
    • Students are responsible for their own items throughout the trip, including money, personal items like cell phones and medication
    • Students stay in rooms with other students. While the adult chaperones check to make sure they are up and ready for the next day, they are responsible for setting an alarm and making a plan to be up and ready on time
    • Students must meet behavior expectations not only of Breckenridge Community Schools, but also of WorldStrides. Students that do not follow these expectations may be sent home at the parent/guardians expense

Is my child independent enough to travel without me?

  • This trip includes seeing so many amazing sites and learning so much about our country’s rich history. With that includes a lot of walking (approximately 8-10 miles per day) and in and out of busses. Travelers should be able to handle the pace of the trip.
  • Basic Itinerary
    • June 23- Fly out of Detroit Metro early afternoon Arrive in DC, evening touring, dinner, hotel
    • June 24- Tour all day
    • June 25- Tour all day
    • June 26- Pack up and load bus, tour in the morning, lunch, head to the airport

What to expect?
