Use Response Validation to create digital locks.

Create questions, prompts, paths that engage and teach/reinforce skills about a topic. Then create clues to help them unlock the digital locks.

You can use a Google folder to combine all the pieces in one place

  • Create a new Google Form
  • Create your question
  • Select answers choices as “Short answers”
  • Click the 3 dots
  • Choose Response Validation
  • Choose Type
    • Number
    • Text
    • Length
    • Regular Expression
  • Must choose “Required”

STEP BY STEP

  • Open a Google Folder and name it - “Escape the Room Trial lesson”
  • Add separate Google Slide file for each question/clue.
  • Create a Google form with sections. Each section houses one question. Do not forget to add the Response validation.
  • Click +New -> Add new google slide. Name the document. (This is the student slide that you will share)
  • Click Slide -> Change Background -> Choose Image -> find an image
  • OPTIONAL - Add other images onto the background image ( Click Insert -> Image-> Search web) ...Remember to choose an image with transparent background.

STEP BY STEP

6. Insert transparent shapes over things you want to add a link to.

7. Add a link for each question/clue in the google slide.

8. Make sure to add the link of the Google form to collect student responses.

9. When assigning to Google Classroom - remember to change the link to present mode by changing the word ‘edit’ in the link to ‘present’. This helps with the Slide opening straight in presentation mode.

10. Make sure that you choose the option - make a copy for each student in Google Classroom when assigning.
