Two weeks ago we began adding schools to naviance. Since then, many of you have asked some awesome questions regarding selecting schools and College Apps.

We are going to review some College Need to Knows to help answer some important questions.

Expanding your List of Schools

When considering which college might be the right fit for you, you may also want to consider safety schools, target schools, or reach schools. All are valuable to add.

With two people near you, count off in 3s (1,2,3).

If you are #1 click on the link for safety schools

If you are #2 click on the link for Target Schools

If you are #3, Click on the link for Reach Schools.

When you are done skimming the article, inform your two partners about what your type of school is.

Many folks have expressed a desire to find more schools to apply to.

We will take 5-7 minutes to begin the activities listed on slide 5 of this presentation.

At the end of the 5-7 minutes write down one thing that surprised you (as a result of the quiz, what you read in the article, what you saw as you added schools to your grid, etc)

Take this quiz, to get matched with schools. Then, add the ones you’re interested in to Naviance. Want more help finding appropriate fits? Here’s another good site.

In addition to Naviance, if you’d like a place to compile the schools you’re interested in + weigh the pros and cons, I recommend you make a copy of this grid and begin populating it.

You can change the column titles to suit your own needs, or leave them as they are.

If you’d like to continue finding + adding schools to naviance and your grid (if you’re choosing to create one), please head outside.

If you know you are applying to a school that requires letters of recommendation (slides 8-11) (or think you might) stay in the room. Ms. B will review this process with you.
