Generic Briefing

2 of 14

Why this generic briefing?

This document tries to lift the burden of command

by providing briefing information one does not need to prepare oneself.

It is so generic that it can be used for either side

  • feel free to make a copy and modify it

Consider the information/briefing orders as optional

  • use what you like
  • modify where you see fit

Radio nets

3x main Long Range frequency channels

  • Reconnaissance
  • Arti fire support
  • Hunter Killers

Units shall listen on their freq for requests

Everyone else is free to tune in to frequencies for services they wish to use

What teams/squads use as their internal Short Range frequency is up to them

Command may decide to be available

  • on a separate channel
  • or on Reconnaissance channel

Units receive orders from Command on their own freq channel

In general

All of you act autonomously for the most part

CMD will assign Keypad sectors to you

  • you are responsible for your sectors
  • sector assignment may change during mission (e.g. to account for loses)

The assigned sectors are

  • where you shall provide service for
  • not necessarily where you are positioned

In the absence of specific orders or requests:

  • make yourself useful
  • listen in to other radio channels
    • to better understand the situation on the battlefield
  • plan for potential next steps
    • evasion/driving routes
    • pre-calculated fire missions

After respawn

  • Establish radio contact with your superior to request orders
    • use radio tower for increased radio range
    • if contact fails, contact the next higher superior

  • If you can’t get orders
    • assume previously assigned responsibility
    • on route to previous responsibility re-try contacting your superiors

Area denial drone jammer

Affects enemy and friendly drones alike

Moving and activation shall only be done on explicit orders from CMD

  • in order to prevent EM fratricide

Jammer totally denies aerial reconnaissance

  • so one must send ground troops to find containers in denied zone
  • opportunity for ambushes
  • consider
    • deactivation of jammers in the open under cover of smoke
    • shelling nearby positions favorable for enemy ambushers
    • ignoring jammers if you can find enemy containers with infantry

Role specifics

10 of 14

Reconnaissance

In the absence of other orders or requests:

Provide intel on your keypad sectors of responsibility

  • Find containers with your UAVs
    • request artillery strikes on targets
  • Manage UAV fuel levels
    • land if they are running low
    • request other units to swap batteries
  • Develop situation picture of enemy forces
    • provide early warning to friendly units
    • help to coordinate defensive actions
    • estimate position of omni-jammers
  • Change location
    • every now and then
    • whenever situation permits
    • remember: your radio calls make you visible

Services you provide to others on request:

  • situation report on enemy forces
  • battle damage assessment

11 of 14

Artillery

Services you provide to others on request:

  • ability to accept fire missions into your assigned Keypad sectors
  • UAV battery swap for nearby drones

In the absence of other orders or requests:

  • Plan future firing positions
    • ideally concealed from nearby roads
  • Plan routes to next positions
    • ideally breaking line-of-sight with the sky
  • Entrench, fortify and conceal your position

Hunter killer teams

In the absence of other orders or requests:

Patrol your keypad sectors of responsibility

  • Report confirmed enemy contacts
    • in Hunter Killer radio channel
  • Listen for artillery fire and hunt them
  • Search the EM spectrum
    • for enemy drones and hunt them
    • for enemy jammers and capture them
  • Provide on-premise intel for enemy container locations
    • container present yes or no?
    • request artillery strikes on targets
    • battle damage assessment

Services you provide to others on request:

  • Defend friendlies against enemies
  • UAV battery swap for nearby drones

Requesting services

Radio nets can become quite crowded

  • dependent on player numbers

Use main LR channels only to initiate request

  • handle the request on different channel

Example

  • tell what you need and where (which KP sector)
  • tell on which frequency the service request is handled
    • e.g. request fire mission into KP9 via 60 MHz (main LR channel for Arti)
    • tell that handling the request is done on 60.9 MHz

Procedure on the left keeps main LR channels open and clean for everyone

  • if player number is low it is probably overengineered though

Do not request help from others to defend you pre-emptivly.

  • Only request such help in case of solid intel that enemies are a direct threat to you
