Creativity
A Foundation for the 4 Cs
Know Your Why!
“I’m not creative! I can’t do that . . . ” - Student
“It’s not about the product, it’s about the process!”
When students create something as part of their learning experiences engagement increases. They also bring critical thinking, communication, & collaboration along for the ride.
“I think the best creative activities are part of the learning process and not always just saved for a summary or reflection of learning.”
#Mindset
“
“When I design an activity my first focus is always on the 4 Cs of communication, critical thinking, creativity, & collaboration. Content is secondary to these skills.”
#Mindset
“
“Getting students creating is the essential to the process of learning in our classroom. For my students the other Cs are build as we create.”

Give 1 - Get 1 - Prairie Dog Engagement
1. Briefly write down 3 things you’ve learned that you believe are worth sharing.
2. When instructed, get up and find someone else. Make eye contact to connect. These are one on one conversations.
3. GIVE ONE idea from your list and GET ONE idea for their list. Just 1 idea per partner!
Note: If your list & your partner’s list are identical, you must brainstorm together an idea that can be added to both of your lists. Exchange no more than one idea with any given partner.
4. Move to a new partner and repeat the process.
5. Return to your seat and continue your learning until the room has settled.
We are going to engage with some modified rules. Think 1 - Stand - Give 1 - Get 1 - Done

“We do not learn from experience . . . we learn from reflecting on experience.”
John Dewey
I’m a big fan of the learning process, so I don’t know that this is 100 percent true, but I do believe that reflection matters.
