Title I Parental Engagement

Dean Stanfield: Title Coordinator

2 of 22

Title I is a supplemental reading and math service offered by our Title I teachers. They provide additional instruction to further assist students in reaching grade-level expectations. We assist Title I students in both the whole-group classroom and in small-group settings. This program is a great opportunity to build reading and math skills and boost the students’ self confidence.

How Is My Child Selected For the Title I Program?

Students are selected based on the following criteria:

  • Teacher recommendations
  • Prior school year spring assessments
  • Classroom performance
  • Progress monitoring results

  • Title I schools receive federal funding to supplement schools’ existing programs. This funding is used for…
    • Identifying students experiencing academic difficulties and providing timely assistance to help these students meet the State’s challenging content standards.
    • Purchasing supplemental staff, programs, materials, and supplies
    • Conducting parent and family engagement meetings, trainings and activities (without barriers)

Edison Local Schools receives federal Title I funding to help ensure every child has the opportunity to succeed. Title I allows us to provide extra support in reading and math, small group instruction, additional classroom resources, and family engagement opportunities. Our goal is to give all students—especially those who may need a little extra help—the tools and confidence to reach their highest potential.
