Apply the Pattern:

  • In the first hour, the tide rises (or falls) by 1/12th of the range.
  • In the second hour, it rises by 2/12ths.
  • In the third and fourth hours, it rises by 3/12ths each.
  • In the fifth hour, it rises by 2/12ths.
  • In the sixth hour, it rises by 1/12th, reaching high water.

Limitations: This method is a rough estimate and may not be accurate in areas with irregular tidal curves, such as Poole or The Solent
