Bellevue Park Presentation
Architectural Improvements
The pavilion was designed by Architect R. Carl Freund, a disciple of Frank lloyd Wright. It was built in 1955 as a dancing venue. Like Wight’s work it is organic architecture and it has a cantilever roof, band stand and three pergolas. Our goals are to address the corner of the bandstand, incorporate bar equipment and honor the current design of the building.

Frank lloyd Wright Inspired: Metal Fencing
The corner of the band stand is an area that should be block off. In order to this we could recreate the metal detailing along the restrooms. The area that would be blocked off could be used as storage or a place for any bands performing to place their items.

Frank lloyd Wright Inspired: Vertical Wood Elements
Examples of Wright using vertical wood:
Frank lloyd Wright Inspired: Vertical Wood Elements
Vertical wood could be used as the window shutters. The wood would be relatively low cost. If graffiti got on it, it would be easier to paint or replace compared to the existing metal. The wood could be constructed in the DAAP woodshop and would be an opportunity for them to show their skills. The wood would be more cohesive with Wright’s aesthetic than the currently metal window in place now.
