What’s WIDA?
WIDA is the framework that teachers use to teach English Learners (ELs).
WIDA provides detailed information about what students at various proficiency levels are able to accomplish and how teachers should facilitate their learning.
There are five WIDA English Language Proficiency (ELP) Standards, which appear in two frameworks: Summative and Formative. The two frameworks can be used for planning curriculum, instruction and assessment of English Learners (ELs).

Can Do Descriptors:
WIDA provides teachers with a set of performance definitions, known as the Can Do Descriptors, for the levels of English proficiency in each language domain.
The Can Do Descriptors are useful resources for teachers to plan instruction appropriate for English Learners (ELs) in their classrooms.
