GOLDEN TEXT
Understand God’s revelations in the book of Daniel;
Correctly interpret the prophetic messages revealed to Daniel;
Be aware of the danger of the end of the world and the need for vigilance and prayer.
OBJECTIVES
Because of its eschatological message (chs. 7-12), the book of Daniel is known as the Apocalypse of the Old Testament. In Daniel, the Lord is presented as the one who knows the future and reveals it to His servants, revealing what is to come.
INTRODUCTION
Such teachings appear in the Escriptures as a warning to everyone, a call to vigilance and prayer, aiming to solidify faith (Dn 12.13).
INTRODUCTION
DANIEL'S SEVENTY WEEKS
1. DANIEL'S SEVENTY WEEKS
In the book of Daniel, in the ninth chapter, the eschatological study is of great importance, which deals with the revelation of the future of the nation of Israel.
1. DANIEL'S SEVENTY WEEKS
In the third and final phase of the seventy weeks, God reveals to Daniel what will happen to the nation of Israel during the Great Tribulation period (Dn 9:27).
“The seventy weeks were determined by God with the following purposes: (...) to extinguish transgression and put an end to sins; atone for iniquity; bring eternal righteousness; seal the vision and prophecy; anoint the Holy of Holies (Dn 9.24).”

The two initial phases

The third and final phase
1.1. Understanding the seventy weeks
There is a clear distinction between the 70 years that Judah would spend in Babylonian captivity and the message of the seventy weeks.
According to the prophet Jeremiah, Judah, due to its disobedience to the Word of the Lord and hardness of

heart, would be captive in Babylon for 70 years. Through studying the Word, Daniel understood that this time was ending (Jer 25.11-13; 29.10; Dn 9.2).
The seventy weeks, however, are the revelations of God's exclusive plan for the nation of Israel,

delivered through the angel Gabriel (Dn 9.21,22), which include a unique period divided into three phases.
Through these seventy weeks divine action becomes evident, both in revealing future events and in determining their fulfillment.
1.1. Understanding the seventy weeks
Thus, with His power and grace, the Most High will put an end to the practice of sin; and, with His goodness and justice, He will provide for the restoration of Israel.
The expression seventy weeks refers not to weeks of days, but to weeks of years. In the original Hebrew, when the sacred writer refers to days, he uses the term yamim (Dn 10.2,3). Week of years is an expression that occurs in other biblical passages, such as in Gen 29.20,27; Lev 25.8; Num 14.34; Ezek 4.6.
1.2. The two initial phases
The seventy weeks are divided into three distinct phases, clearly revealed in the biblical passage. The two weeks are part of History, that is, they have already been completed; the last one is yet to be fulfilled.
1.2.1. The first phase
The first phase of seven years begins with the ordinance of restoration of the city, an event that occurred during the ordinance of the emperor Artaxerxes Longimanus, in approximately 445 BC, the period in which the cupbearer Nehemiah

received authorization to carry out this great work (Neh 2.1-8). It was a time marked by anguish, persecution, lies, provocations and threats (Dn 9.25; Ne 4-6).
1.2.2. The second phase
The second phase of 62 weeks is marked by the appearance of the Prince, the Messiah, (the Anointed One) and his death (Dn 9.26).
The second character in the passage is introduced as the prince who is to come.
1.2.2. The second phase
His people would destroy the city and the Temple - events that occurred in 70 AD, when General Titus and his Roman legions invaded Jerusalem, bringing destruction and death to the Jews.
1.3. The third and final phase
The third phase will be one week, which will begin with an alliance between Israel and the antichrist.
This last week refers to the period of the Great Tribulation, which will cover a period of seven years, divided into two equal parts of years:
1.3. The third and final phase
*the first half (the initial three and a half years) will be marked by false peace (Rev 3.10; 6-9; 7.14);
*the second half (the final three and a half years) will be marked by the break between Israel and the antichrist. In this way, this part of Daniel's prophecy will be fulfilled.
PROPHECIES ABOUT THE ANTICHRIST IN DANIEL
2. PROPHECIES ABOUT THE ANTICHRIST IN DANIEL
Who is the antichrist?
The reign and end of the antichrist
Meaning of ten fingers
The Millennial Kingdom
The Battle of Armageddon
2.1. Who is the antichrist?
Through his names, revealed in Daniel, we can learn a little about this character who will appear at the end of time.
*Small horn (Dn 7.8,20) - in the Holy Scriptures, the expression horn (or tip) corresponds to power;
2.1. Who is the antichrist?
thus, he will be a powerful man who, with skill, will use oratory to convince many.
*Fierce-faced king (Dn 8.23) - corresponds to his arrogant, insolent and proud look.
2.1. Who is the antichrist?
*Prince that is to come (Dn 9.25,26) - this passage makes it clear that the antichrist will never be compared to the Messiah, who is the only Prince.
*The Desolator (Dn 9.27) - this is a term that is difficult to interpret, but scholars understand that it
2.1. Who is the antichrist?
would correspond to the desecration of profanity or abomination that causes horror.
*Vile man (Dn 11.21) - the antichrist will be an infamous man, practicing vile and despicable acts; a person without moral principles, who will use deception to achieve their goals.
2.1. Who is the antichrist?
*Obstinate king (Dn 11.36) - with arrogance he will rise up against all types of worship and, mainly, against the worship of the only God; and, furthermore, he will blaspheme the Most High, His Tabernacle, and those who dwell in heaven (Revelation 13:4-6).
2.2. The reign and end of the antichrist
The reign of the antichrist, in the Great Tribulation, will be the last before the government of Jesus, the Christ, who, with power and great glory, will put an end to all systems of dominion known to humanity
2.2. The reign and end of the antichrist
Such a reign will be a continuation of the Roman Empire (Dn 7.7,8; 19,20) and will arise among the nations (Rev 13.1,2; 17.15).
2.1.1. Meaning of ten fingers
In Daniel, the kingdom of the antichrist is called the Ten Fingers, which will be a mixture of clay - democratic governments - and iron - dictatorial governments (Dn 2.33,40,41). It will have ten points (Dn 7.20), a representation of authorities who will hand over power to the

antichrist (Rev 17.12,13).
This evil kingdom of darkness will be definitively defeated when the Lord Jesus manifests himself in the final part of the Great Tribulation.
2.1.2. The Millennial Kingdom
Daniel compares the Kingdom of Christ - Millennial Kingdom - to a stone that was not cut by human hands, that is, that will not have help from any creature. The Son of God will destroy the ten fingers, consume all governments and His Kingdom will be established forever (Dn 2.43-45).
2.1.3. The Battle of Armageddon
The antichrist will be defeated and arrested by Jesus - in the Battle of Armageddon - and thrown with the false prophet into the lake of fire and sulfur (Rev 19.11-21).
2.1.3. The Battle of Armageddon
Thus, after a period of three and a half years, which corresponds to the second and final phase of the Great Tribulation, judgment will be established on the antichrist and his kingdom (Dn 7.25-27).
THE END OF TIMES
3. THE END OF TIMES
The Great Tribulation
Resurrections to eternal life and death
The development of technology and Science
3.1. The great tribulation
The Great Tribulation will be the period that will take place in the world shortly after the rapture of the Church. This teaching appears in the prophecy of Daniel, to whom God revealed this singular period of seven years.
3.1. The great tribulation
During this period, extreme suffering will occur, the likes of which have never been reported in history (Dn 12.1; Mt 24.21; Mc 13.19).
3.2. Resurrections to eternal life and death
In Daniel, we have two types of resurrections:
*the first - will happen immediately before the rapture of the saved (1 Cor 15.51,52);
3.2. Resurrections to eternal life and death
*the second - will take place after the Millennium and will be followed by the court of the white throne, in which those who lived in the pleasures of sin will be judged, being thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur (Rev 20.11-15).
3.3. The development of technology and Science
The multiplication of knowledge and advanced scientific development is one of the signs regarding the Lord's return to snatch His beloved bride, the Church (Dn 12.4).
The final message of the book of Daniel fills us with joy and hope. It will be a glorious time, in which our Lord Jesus Christ will reign over all the earth.
CONCLUSION
His Kingdom will be introduced by the power of God, not by the hand of man (Dn 2.44; 7.27). Maranatha, now come Lord Jesus (Revelation 22:20)!
CONCLUSION
GOD BLESS YOU!
