  • You MUST earn CREDITS in High School (Grade 9-12).
  • Each semester course is worth 1 credit
  • You must earn a grade of “D” or higher to earn the credit
  • If you get a grade of “F” you will not earn credit for that class and you will need to make that credit up.
  • You must earn 48 Credits and have an average GPA of a 2.0 to graduate

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

Core of Instruction

  • Students in grades 9-12 must pass all 48 credits in order to graduate.

  • Additionally, they must either have a 2.0 grade point average (GPA) in the following 29 core classes OR demonstrate satisfactory achievement in area(s) of deficiency.

Core course credits include: English (8 credits),

Speech (1 credit), Social Studies (7 credits),

Math (6 credits), Science (6 credits) and

Health (1 credit).

Additional Graduation Requirements:

  • College Entrance Exam (participation only)
  • Senior Project
  • Civics Exam

ALTERNATES

  • There are a lot of elective options this year and we won’t be able to offer all of them.
  • If there aren’t enough students for a certain class, then we can’t offer it. This will place you in your alternates (if possible).
  • If you choose an alternate that requires an application, make sure you complete the application.
  • If you don’t have have alternates, we will choose your courses for you.

You must choose 4 alternates in case your 1st choices are full or we close an elective.

Schedule changes in August may not be possible!

    • The schedule is built on what courses you choose now!
    • No teacher changes or switching class periods.
    • Exceptions: re-taking a failed class, missing a required course for graduation, took summer school, misplacement in math, “see counselor” is on your schedule.

Use the resources provided and talk to your counselor about your 4 year plan, and current teachers about their recommendations for you.

After you research your course requests, review your requests with your parents/guardians, and be prepared to enter your classes in Infinite Campus on Monday, 2/12.

  • PLUS is a student facilitated program that gives the students a voice in their school. A diverse cross-section of student leaders facilitates a series of activities that create communication, connections, care, and community amongst a student body.

  • to work to create a positive culture on campus and in our community where inclusion is a reality for everyone.
  • to be part of a diverse group from a variety of backgrounds who work together as a team.

  • To enroll in the PLUS class, you have to apply and be accepted on to the PLUS Team.
  • We have applications with us today or you can pick one up in the front office.

College Planning (The time is NOW)

  • Colleges will see all your final grades from 9th-12th. They use these to determine eligibility for admission.
  • Colleges have several different admission requirements. Be sure to research and talk with your counselor about your college plans.

Out of State Colleges:

    • Are competitive - they are looking for students to challenge themselves in rigorous coursework.
    • Some require 2 years of a Language other than English (more recommended)
    • Some require a World History, cultures or historical geography class = AP Human Geography
    • College Admissions Testing: some colleges require the ACT/SAT for admissions.

Traditional Secondary Summer

  • Registration will open on March 1: See your counselor for registration information and enrollment forms.
  • All classes will be offered online and teachers will have in person office hours at Borah High school.

Semester 1: June 4-27

Semester 2: July 3-26

  • Each semester is 4-weeks long and students can take up to 2 classes each semester (2 credits).
  • If you take both semesters, you could take a total of 4 classes (4 credits).
  • Transportation is not provided.
  • Use your Advanced Opportunities funds to pay for traditional summer school, see your counselor for forms.
