Class Requests

The Class Requests screen allows students to view and create scheduling requests for the following school year.

Request Navigation

The Student Portal page is the key to navigation through Focus.

  1. Students, similar to staff, have a menu to the left of the screen for navigation to various pages within the Focus system.
  2. The District & School Announcements block allows users to view News and Events. The News tab displays Portal Messages published by the district and teachers. It also includes Alerts for students that indicate items that need attention.
  3. The Student Information block includes information on the signed in student. This information can consist of grades, attendance, teacher names, etc.
  4. The District Calendar block displays events scheduled within the district calendar. Users have the options of viewing the calendar events as weekly, monthly, or agenda

  1. Navigate to Class Requests in Student Portal
  • Enter Class Requests

Students can request courses by navigating to Class Requests on their Portal page.

Requests already entered by the student or counselor will show in the Request Table at the top of the page. Students will also be able to see if the requests were approved by a counselor and if they are locked out of making more requests.

Course Dropdown: Single Selection

Students have access to add course requests through the Request Table similar to when counselors submit via Student Requests

**Before starting, be sure the school year selected is for the year requests are being scheduled.

Students can use the Filter search box to quickly search for courses needed.

Once the course is selected, the student can enter an Elective Priority as needed and then press the Enter key to add the course to the table.

Quick List: Multiple Selections

Students can also enter requests by using Quick List at the bottom of the screen. The Quick List is organized by graduation subject. Any requests that have already been entered for a graduation subject will have a green check mark displayed next to the subject.

**Before starting, be sure the school year selected is for the year requests are being scheduled.

To enter requests using the Quick List, select a course from the dropdown menu next to the graduation requirement. **Students can enter more course requests in the Quick List.

Once all requests are entered, the student will select the Save button.

The requests will then be added to the Course Request table at the top of the screen.
