To experience an extended period of study leave and the revision and preparation this entails

Key Points:

You are on study leave from Friday 15th March until Thursday 21 March
Arrive at least 30 minutes before your exam; you may use the library or outside spaces to relax/ revise
You do not need to wear school uniform
Note that there are some practical workshops and exams before or after study leave

WAYS TO REVISE

Using your revision notes/textbooks

Look back on topics or information that you have forgotten. Past papers are a good indicator for this.
Write or read your notes aloud to help memorize certain points.

School Study Sessions

Closer to the exams certain subjects will have study sessions during lunchtimes.
Teachers may also be willing to host sessions during your actual exam period.

Exam content

Check what content will be on your exams. Subjects with more than one exam won’t test all the information on both exams.

Using revision notes were a big part of my study schedule for the IGCSEs. I like to memorize all the content of my subjects from my revision notes or textbooks as I easily forget what I had learned in class, especially after doing the unit tests. What I like about using revision notes is that I can compile all the information from my class notes, booklet and textbook and link it back to the syllabus statements. This way before the exam I will make sure to cover everything that can be on the test without having to flip through all these resources. I memorize most easily by reading my notes and restating them. However make sure to find and use the best way you revise as everyone is different, such as the methods previously mentioned in this presentation. Even if you do know all the information make sure to do plenty of past papers to ensure that you will be able to apply this properly in the context of the exam, especially for subjects that are more based on skills than content.

The school may host study sessions for subjects like science during lunchtime closer to your exams. Although this is not compulsory or necessary I found that it helped me remember how exactly to answer certain exam questions and gave me more reassurance on what we had learned.

Your teachers may also be willing to host session during your exam period where you can ask for help with any last questions you may have. If you do decide to go to one of these sessions make sure to always email your teacher first so that they can know you will be coming in.

Exams like the sciences will have two different papers. Not all the information will be on both. You can often find what information specifically will come up on your exams by looking at the exam board’s website. The science booklets will also tell you what will come up in paper 1 and paper 2. So if you have an exam the next day make sure to focus on revising and solidifying what will actually come up.

I found it hard to actually keep to an exam schedule. For me it was much easier to just keep track of which subjects I was studying each day and make sure that I give enough time to each subject which is shown in this image. This was more useful further away from the exams as when I got closer I tended to just revise for my next exam.
