Fundraising Reminders:
- Ensure your personal fundraising URL is correct and clearly listed
- Check for consistent font type and sizing which can be an issue when things are copied and pasted
- Checks should be made out to “LLS” or “The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society”
- Donations should be sent directly to the Candidate*
Proper use of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS):
- Capitalize “The” and use an ampersand (&), not the word ‘and’
- Correct: I am participating in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Visionaries of the Year fundraising campaign
- Incorrect: I am participating the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Visionaries of the Year fundraising campaign
- Only add “(LLS)” after first usage of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
When using abbreviation ‘LLS’, do not use “the”
- Correct: I am fundraising for LLS
- Incorrect: I am fundraising for the LLS
If using LLS in the possessive form, the proper use is “LLS’s”
- Correct: LLS’s Visionaries of the Year
All cancer/disease names should be lowercase, with a few exceptions:
- Hodgkin (EX: non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma)
- T-cell or B-cell (EX: stage 4 B-cell lymphoma)
Correct usage of LLS campaign names:

- Honored Heroes under the age of 18 should NOT have last names listed (first name only for all minors)
In Excel:
- Look for zip codes with 4 numbers:
- If the address is in an east coast state (CT, ME, MA, VT), highlight zip code column and right click. Select “Format Cells” and in the “Number” tab, select “Special” option and save. Add a “0” to the beginning of the zip codes with 4 numbers
- If the address is NOT in the east coast, look up the street/city/state to locate the correct zip code (most often in CA addresses)
- States need to be abbreviated
- Country must be listed if international
- Team In Training (capital “In”)
- Light The Night (capital “The”)
- Burkitt (EX: Burkitt lymphoma)
- Alzheimer’s (EX: Alzheimer’s disease)
