PARKING LOTS & NEIGHBORHOODS

Students need more than driving on highways to be effective and safe. In recent years, students seem to struggle more and more with slow speed, precision maneuvers like turning turning, driving slow, and reversing. Driving from home to Kea’au will not make them good drivers, they need precision as well.

Here are some suggested places for them to practice:

  • Old Malama Market parking lot (Pahoa)
  • Neighborhood between Kea’au High/Kea’au Middle (Kea’au)
  • Shipman Industrial Area (Kea’au)
  • Civic Center & surrounding neighborhoods (Hilo)
  • State & County parking lots after hours (Hilo)
  • Parents, do you have other suggestions?
