Problem Statement in detail -: At public wash basin, everyone has to touch the tap to open it with their hands, but there is no such solution to operate the existing tap system.
Solutions available to problem statement -: There are numerous solutions which exists for this problem but they are either complicated or expensive or can’t be easily accessible. Few are listed below –
1) An automatic faucet or tap is a faucet equipped with a proximity sensor and mechanism that opens its valve to allow water to flow in response to the presence of a user's hands in close proximity. But this system is expensive and requires high maintenance.
2) Foot operated tap mechanism, which use foot force to operate without using any sense reaction, but it can’t be integrated with existing water system.

Market Survey for problem and solution -:
According to market survey conducted by us, it was found that people wanted something that was either cheap or easy to use, and readily available solution.
What is your solution product -:
Mechanical tap opener is the linkage mechanism which operates on foot force. This linkage mechanism can be easily integrated on existing water tap system. This system do not require any complex electrical system. The solution product will be cheaper than existing solution if we manufacture it on large scale.
How it suits best over other solutions, usability, feasibility etc.

Benefits of your product-overcoming drawback of existing solutions. Drawbacks of your products that can be optimize in future study.
A mechanical tap opener is a simple linkage mechanism. There are many advantages of following product over the existing products which are listed below
1) This product is purely mechanical, and simple in design.
2) It operates on foot force so no complicated electrical system is required.
3)This can be easily integrated into any water tap system.
4) This mechanism can be easily manufactured.
5) It is easy to maintain, and requires less maintenance.
6) This product is cost-effective, as its parts are easily available.
Drawbacks -: This system cannot be integrated easily on any water tap bcoz the valve of the tap varies in size and shape.
Even the operating function of water tap varies like

Working principle :- Mechanical tap opener is a device which receives the foot force as input, which causes the motion of links the mechanism. At the other end this motion converted as vertical translational motion which rotates the hollow cylindrical part which is mounted on the tap. As the cylinder rotates it opens the valve tap The axis of rotation of cylindrical part coincides with the path on which vertical translational motion of the link is occurring. The spring is provided at foot pedal in order to close the tap. Mechanism -: This product consist of 2 Mechanism they are as follow-:
1) Double crank lever Mechanism – This mechanism is use to transmit the force from foot to cam follower mechanism
 2) Cam- follower -: This mechanism is used to convert linear motion of cam into
rotational motion of follower in order to rotate the tap valve. According to design
calculation, 60mm translational motion of cam rotates the follower by 260 deg.

Product structure -: Our structure is based on 2 Mechanism :- 1) Double crank 2) Cam follower
Lower link has a pedal which is to be operated by foot, which will give motion to the middle link. Middle link transfers motion to the upper link. Both the upper and lower links are pivoted at their midpoint. The upper link and cam are connected by a small link (connecter) which allows the cam to do a vertical translational motion. The follower is fixed with tap valve thus rotate due to translational motion of the cam. The individual components are as follow-:
1) Linkages
