Project Stubber
Project Description -
Find a way to prevent you from stubbing your toe that is both cost efficient and convenient.
Defining and Justifying Problems
Problem Statement
Relatively speaking, when walking around your house you are safe, but for around 50% of people, there is a good chance you will stub your toe at least once a week. For the people who do stub their toe, when you feel your foot jams into a wall or furniture it is always a very painful experience, and it can lead to other problems such as broken nails, infections, spraining, and in the worst cases, fractures.
What do potential customers say?
We sent a survey to our entire school with questions pertaining to our project, with questions like, “How often do you stub your toe?” and “when was the last time you stubbed your toe?” Our aim was to find justification for our problem. Here are the results.
This pie chart shows that about 36% percent of responses said that they stub their toes weekly or daily. This means that many people frequently stub their toes, giving us a large target group.
What do potential customers say?
30.9% of potential customers say that they would be willing to purchase a product that could stop them from stubbing their toe. An additional 39.5% of customers might buy a product depending on how it worked.
Justifying the Problem
Wearing shoes around the house is a great way stop yourself from stubbing your toe, however based on our survey with 256 responses, only 5.1% of people like wearing shoes around the house, and of those 5.1% of people over 80 percent of them also like to wear either socks or bare feet around the house, so while wearing shoes is an almost foolproof solution, it's not the solution most people want. We need to generate a solution that keeps all of these ideas in mind and uses the opinions people have given us.
