Life Cycle of a Penguin

1. Egg

Father penguin will keep egg safe and warm on his feet. It will take about 3 days to hatch once the egg starts moving

2. Junior Penguin

When the chick hatches, its wings are wet. After 5 months it no longer has to stay with the father, and it becomes a junior penguin

3. Adult Penguin

In about 5 years, the penguin will find a mate. He will take care of her until its own egg hatches, and the mother and father will take turns taking care of its families

4. Death

There are many reasons why a penguin can die:

  • Predators (whales)
  • Natural causes
