Dismissal Procedures

Dismissal Procedures: Students will be dismissed from school at 3:30 p.m. Teachers will bring their class to the front door. If students walk home, they are to go directly home. If students ride a bus, they are to go directly to their bus and board it properly. These parking lot procedures are for everyone’s safety. Please use good judgement when entering and leaving the parking lot. When picking up your child(ren), please observe the parking procedures for the parking lot. Drivers are to remain in their cars and students will be directed to their cars. No cars for student drop-off or pick-up are allowed in the bus lot. Pick-up and drop-off are to be done at areas located within the visitor/staff parking lot. The pick-up and drop-off lane is the lane closest to the school. The drive thru lane, which is the lane nearest the parked cars, should not have parked cars at any time. Your support of these guidelines is appreciated. When exiting the parking lot, parents are asked to make a RIGHT hand turn on Euclid.

Indoor or Outdoor Recess

Outdoor or Indoor Recess?: Students will line up outside at arrival and enjoy outdoor recess when temperatures are 10 degrees or above (windchill). We also monitor the conditions of the blacktop when determining outdoor recess during the winter months. Please be sure your child is dressed for the weather with a warm coat, hat, and gloves. Students are able to play in the snow if they are dressed in snow boots, snow pants, winter coat, hat, and gloves.

As the temperatures begin to drop, we want to share a reminder about our recess procedures to ensure all students are dressed appropriately for outdoor play:

  • Outdoor or Indoor Recess?: Students will line up outside at arrival and enjoy outdoor recess when the temperature is 10 degrees Fahrenheit or above (including the windchill factor). We also continuously monitor the conditions of the blacktop and playground surfaces to ensure they are safe for students.
  • Dress Warmly: Please ensure your child is dressed for the weather every day with a warm coat, hat, and gloves.
  • Snow Play: Students are allowed to play in the snow if they are fully dressed in the required gear: snow boots, snow pants, winter coat, hat, and gloves. Without all these items, students must remain on the dry blacktop areas.

Thank you for helping us ensure a safe and comfortable outdoor experience for everyone!

Lunch Procedures

DuJardin does not have a hot lunch program. Students should bring a lunch to school with them each day. If a student forgets a lunch once or twice during the school year, a phone call home will be made. If a student repeatedly forgets a lunch, the school will provide the student with a sack lunch. For safety purposes, we do not allow food to be delivered to school by restaurants or delivery services.

The PTO offers a hot lunch program throughout the school year. Please refer to the Jaguar Journal regarding days of the hot lunch program and ordering procedures.

It is against the school rules to have a restaurant delivery service deliver food to the school. This causes a disruption in the office. The school will provide a lunch if your child has forgotten his/her lunch

Hot Lunch The PTO also provides interested students with an opportunity to eat a special hot lunch during the course of the school year. The hot lunch dates are located on our website calendar as well as in the weekly communication. Hot lunch online order forms are located in our weekly parent communication newsletter. PTO hot lunch serves as a school fundraiser and the proceeds will go right back into the school (ie- Teacher Wish Lists are funded through PTO Fundraisers).

Required Health Forms:

Student Needs:

  • Please inform the nurse of any allergies or sensitivities to foods, medications, and environmental allergens. If there are any pertinent details of your students' health that you feel the nurse needs to know, please reach out and discuss this with the school nurse. This information can be helpful to better support your student throughout the day, if certain situations arise.

About Your Student’s Medication:

  • The district's medication administration policy mandates that all medication to be administered at school requires an MD order, this includes over-the-counter medications. Students may NOT keep over-the-counter meds in their backpacks or in their lockers--including cough drops, Advil, etc. This is an important safety concern! Please review the policy included in the registration process.
  • If your student requires an inhaler, Epi-Pen, or any oral medication, please obtain the medication form and appropriate health care plan from your physician when your child has their exam. Forms may also be obtained on the district website.

Excused Physical Education Class:

  • Please note that all PE excuses need to be sent to the Nurse's Office. A parent may excuse a student from PE for up to 3 days. (consecutively) Thereafter, a Doctor's note is required.

Calls home from the Nurse:

  • Phone calls home are warranted in the event of a head injury, minor or major
  • All in school sickness including fever of 100.4 (oral) or greater, vomiting and/or diarrhea

Please prepare to keep your child home until:

  • Fever-free for a full 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication.
  • Vomiting and diarrhea has ceased for a full 24 hours

Please refer to the General Health Guidelines which can be found on the district website
