English Language Arts

Unit 3: Family Stories

Week 1: Introduce Genre & Describing Story Elements: Characters

Reading

We will learn about main characters and how to describe their personalities, actions, physical appearance, and background. We will also learn about supporting characters.

Phonological/Phonemic Awareness

Phoneme Manipulation (Adding, Deleting, or Substituting Sounds in Words)

Phonics/Word Study

Read and spell regular two-syllable words and words with inflectional endings. We will also work with compound words.

Writing

We will create main and supporting characters and write a narrative with them in it.

Math

We will continue working with equivalence and place value. We will explore the connection between place value and money.

Science/S.S

We will learn about different individuals for Black History Month and what they did for the world.

Mar. 8 - Scholastic Book Orders Due!

Mar. 25-29 - Spring Break!

Please make sure your child has a water bottle AND snack at school. I still have many without.

Remove papers from Take Home Folders every night and make sure they return each day. Also, make sure you return the home reading pocket each day so we can log your child’s steps and exchange books.

Please make sure your child has shoes to change into every day so they do not have to track wetness and mud through our classroom and hallways.
