Kaibab Plateau in Arizona

  • Deer Population – 4,000 in 1905
  • Game preserve created in 1906
    • Area had already been over grazed by livestock
  • From 1907-1939
    • 816 Mountain lions
    • 20 wolves
    • 7,388 coyotes
    • And over 500 bobcats

  • Habitat destruction and mass starvation
  • In 1929 hunting was allowed back in the area. Populations was brought back into balance
