Current 8th graders who meet the prerequisites can apply for ALL of the Accelerated College Pathways.

A: Yes, the program will maintain a waiting list of those students who applied and met the prerequisites.

A: Yes, students will likely be able to participate in additional activities including school clubs.

Q: If I am accepted, how do I change my schedule?

A: The course schedule will be changed by the Klein Forest High School CTE Counselor.

FAQ

Q: Once I graduate from high school having completed this pathway, what is my next step?

A: As a senior, students will apply for 4-year university programs. Typically, an Associate degree graduate will enter with junior status.

Q: After completing the 4-year pathway, what happens if I change my college and future career focus?

A: The core academic courses are transferable to Texas and most out of state universities and career-focused courses may count toward electives on the Bachelors degree plan.

Q: If a student changes their pathway, will they still graduate?

A: Yes, most definitely. Students will graduate with their high school diploma and significant college credits. If students do not remain in the Accelerated College Pathway they will return to their home campus.

Q: Are Dual Credit courses a good option for Ivy League universities?

A: Yes, dual credit coursework demonstrates academic rigor, which is a plus to your college application. University departments are responsible for approving courses that count toward a major and it is unique to each school.

Q: How is it going to affect the regular academic? Will the course load affect GPA? What additional support is provided to complete this course?�

A: Participating in this pathway supports both your ability to receive your high school diploma and your Associate's Degree from Lonestar.

You will have access to all resources available to Lonestar students as well as your CTE counselor for extra guided support and advising.
