The cannabis community is the fastest growing voter bloc (and very diverse), if we have the power to legalize cannabis we have the power to end the drug war and reverse its impacts. This picture was taken at a celebration event where the local Oakland cannabis community forged together to create the nations 1st “equity tax rebate program” - this policy exudes the idea of the cannabis community not just fighting for legalization but equity as well. The equity rebate program, attached a businesses profitability to reinvestment in the community and diversifying the industry by rewarding them with tax rebates for investing in those activities. In this picture we have patients, elected officials, general business owners, equity business owners, applicants, and organizers. These types of coalitions don't build themselves and take nurture and intention to maintain.
