Lesson 2
In: What do you know About ships? What do you know about submarines?
Engineers will be able to able to design and draw a ship prototype by discussing with team and recording in notebooks.
Ship
You are an engineer working for the navy. Part of your job involves you designing and testing new ships. In order to create your ship, you may use any of the materials I show you. today you will draw a picture of what your ship prototype will look like.
Try to design a ship that can hold a lot of cargo. Tomorrow you will construct/test your design to see how much it can hold. Make sure your ship can fit into the lab bin.
Material List
To test you will need...
Example of finished product:
Design Directions:
• How will you use your materials?
• How will you get your ship to carry as much cargo as
possible?
• What possible problems could come up during construction?
You final product can look totally different, be creative!

We celebrate the history and achievements of African Americans.
In: How much cargo do you think your design can hold? Can you improve your design to hold more?
Engineers will be able to construct my ship prototype and see how much cargo it can hold.
Look at your prototype drawing from yesterday. Get all your materials and build your ship.
