More About Bell Schedule

Periods

  • Students will have 3 minutes in between each

period to go to their locker and the restroom if needed

and to get to their next class.

  • Students must be in the classroom before the bell rings for the start of the next period.

End of the Day

  • Buses leave at approximately 3:05 p.m.
  • If students are taking the bus home, they cannot waste time going from their last class to the bus!
  • It is important for students to remember their bus number.

13 of 33

Entering School Building

  • Before school begins at 8:00 a.m., all students, whether being dropped off by bus or by another vehicle, will enter the school building at the high school gym entrance.

  • Students may be required to pass through a metal detector and have any of their backpacks, bags, etc. searched as part of the school’s safety and security procedures. Any electronic alert from the metal detector will initiate a more detailed search.

  • Students who arrive to school after 8:00 a.m. will enter the building through the secured side door, located to the left of the main high school entrance doors. Those students will have to obtain a pass from the office before reporting to class.

  • Between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., everyone must enter the building through the secured side office door. Visitors must use the intercom to contact the office and to notify the administrative personnel of the reason for a visit before being admitted into the secured vestibule. Once inside, visitors will scan a driver’s license (or other permissible form of identification) through the Raptor Visitor Screening System.

Securly

A new electronic hall pass system was implemented last school year.

  • Students use their Chromebook to request permission to leave the class.

  • The teacher approves the request electronically.

  • The system tracks the time students are outside of the classroom, where they are supposed to be, and the number of times they leave the classroom.

  • Students are limited the number of times they can leave the classroom in one day.

  • This helps school staff be accountable for all students.

15 of 33

        • Breakfast and lunch will be offered.
        • Students can also carry their lunch from home.
        • A la carte items can be purchased.

Cafeteria

Student ID Cards

  • Used for cafeteria purchases

16 of 33

  • Each student will be assigned their own locker.

  • Teachers will assign lockers the first week of school.

  • It is recommended that students avoid bringing valuables to school, and doing so will be at their own risk.

  • Students should not share their locker with anyone, including their friends.

  • REMEMBER that the lockers are the property of the school district.

Lockers

17 of 33

  • Each student will be assigned a Chromebook to use in and outside of school as needed.

  • The Chromebooks are to be used for school purposes only. Students should not be

using the school’s Chromebooks to access video games, YouTube, Chatrooms, etc.

Parents’ support in monitoring their child’s use of the Chromebook at home is very

much appreciated.

  • It is the student’s responsibility to make sure that their Chromebook is fully charged at

the beginning of each school day.

  • The Chromebooks are the property of the Lakeview School District, and students are

responsible for taking care of them.

  • A student’s misuse of a Chromebook will result in disciplinary action, which may

include that student’s Chromebook being taken away.

Absences

  • It is important for students to attend school regularly so that they do not get behind in their classes.

  • If a student is absent, he/she must provide Mrs. Deniker in the main office with a written excuse signed by a parent/guardian within 3 days of the absence. If not, the absence becomes unexcused.

  • If a student acquires 10 parent excused absences, they will be required to have a medical professional provide a signed excuse for any additional absences. A medical excuse will be required every time students are absent from that time on to avoid having illegal absences.

  • If a student is approved to miss school for an educational trip, the days missed for the trip count toward the 10 parent excused days.

Attendance

19 of 33

  • Parents/guardians will receive attendance letters if their child has any unexcused absences and if their child is close to reaching the 10 parent excused absent limit.

  • If a student acquires 3 or more unexcused absences, a School Attendance Improvement Conference (SAIC) must be conducted, and a School Attendance Improvement Plan (SAIP) must be developed.

  • If a student acquires 6 or more unexcused absences, truancy will be filed with the local magistrate, and Children and Youth Services may be contacted.

20 of 33

Tardy to School

  • If a student is late to school, he/she must report to the main office before going to class.

  • Just like absences, students must provide an excuse signed by a parent/guardian for being late to school.

  • Disciplinary action will occur if a student is repeatedly late to school.

Tardy to Class

  • Students will be reported to the office for repeatedly being late to class.

  • Disciplinary action will occur if a student is repeatedly late to class.

21 of 33

  • The Lakeview Middle-High School Student/Parent Handbook containing all of the school rules and procedures, as well as other information, will be posted on the school district’s website.

  • Parents/guardians and students are strongly encouraged to read the handbook.

  • Parents/guardians will receive a handbook acknowledgement form, which they will be asked to sign and turn into the office.

  • Mr. Ace will meet with all students during the first week of school to help them better understand the rules and expectations.
