Goal: Build a shared understanding about the upcoming challenges
How long | What | Who | How |
5’ | Set the Stage | Product Owner | Product Owner shares why the upcoming challenges matter and connect them to an overarching goal, ideally the Product Goal |
75’ | Refinement | Scrum Team | This part is iterative. Timebox the refinement of each item, 10 minutes tend to be enough. - Product Owner shares the context and why that’s important- Scrum team ask clarifying questions- Product Owner refines the product backlog item with the team - Scrum Team sizes the item (keep it simple)This cycle repeats for as many item as possible Hint: Don’t over refine. If you don’t intend to work on something in the foreseeable future, don’t invest your time into it right now because things change |
10’ | Session feedback | Scrum Team | Refinement sessions can be exhausting. Leave around 10 minutes in the end to collect feedback to improve future sessions |
