Our Motto

“CARING; OUR WAY OF LIFE”

Our Mission Statement

Key Club is an international, student-led organization that provides its members with opportunities to provide service, build character and develop leadership.

Our Pledge

I pledge, on my honor,

to uphold the Objects of Key Club International; to build my home, school, and community;

to serve my nation and world;

and combat all forces which tend to undermine these institutions.

Core Values

Leadership: Leadership is grounded in humility and service to others. A true leader listens, recognizes, and empowers.

Character building: Character is built by everyday acts of kindness, integrity, and teamwork to grow stronger

relationships and communities.

Caring: Compassion for others is a cornerstone of the Key Club experience, inspiring action, and service to one’s community.

Inclusiveness: We welcome people of all backgrounds and ethnicities to join in serving and making a positive difference in our world.

Our Objectives

☺To give primacy to the human and spiritual, rather than to the material values of life.

☺To encourage the daily living of the Golden Rule in all human relationships.

☺ To promote the adoption and application of higher standards in scholarship, sportsmanship, and social contacts.

☺ To develop, by precept and example, a more intelligent, aggressive, and serviceable citizenship.

☺ To provide a practical means to form enduring friendships, to render unselfish service and to build better communities.

☺ To cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opinion and high idealism which makes possible the increase of

righteousness, justice, patriotism, and good will.

Ruby Osorio

HOTO

My name is Ruby Osorio and I am Arlington High School’s Key Club’s president. I am going into my senior year and I could not be more excited. This will be my 4th year being a member of my Key Club and my 2nd year being an officer. Last year as vice president, I took on the role of president because of problems that she was having. Although it was very difficult on me, it taught me valuable lessons and important skills that I will forever carry with me and remember.

Last year, my goal was to attend every meeting and service event that my club hosted. It was very time consuming and tiring at times. As the school year was coming to an end, I was losing motivation on attending every event but I still pushed through and attended every single one. I didn’t know how rewarding it could be until LEDCON. That was the first time where I really realized that hard work pays off. I took on a lot of excessive responsibilities as vice president and everyone saw it. It won me Leader of Leaders and I was over the moon. I cried tears of joy because I finally felt seen for all the work I have been putting in.

With Key Club consuming at least 10 hours of my week plus my other clubs, homework, and outside responsibilities, I was very overwhelmed. My advisors taught me how to manage my time. Which later taught me how to organize my life and still prioritize time for myself. Our Key Club assignments were getting done early if not on time, and I was not procrastinating doing my school work. When the end of year came and our GPA’s and class ranks were updated, I felt so proud. Managing my time helped me better my academics and help me reach my goal of top 8%.

I cannot thank Key Club enough for the memories, friendships, skills, and lessons it has taught me. I genuinely cannot wait for what my senior year brings and all the things Key Club will achieve!

My Experience at Ledcon

Attending Ledcon is a great way of getting to know a lot about the purpose of the club and your position as well. Last year was my first time attending Ledcon and joining Key Club. At first I was scared to join the club because I didn't know much about any of the positions the club had, but with attending Ledcon I was able to go to multiple forums to learn more about things that help better our club.For example, I attended a graphic design forum and I learned that the backgrounds we make have a bigger importance than I had thought. Ledcon also had a karaoke forum.

At this forum me and my friends opened up and talked, sang, and danced along with people we hadn’t met before which was a really nice experience. Before going to Ledcon I wouldn’t talk a lot with the members of our club, but being there allowed me to become closer and more open with them.We would eat together at new places and overall just hang out with each other while talking about all the forums we had attended. Us girls would even help each other get ready together every time we had a new event to attend.

To me the best part of attending Ledcon was going to the last dinner where everyone would be receiving the awards their club had worked hard for throughout the school year. Being able to see all their excitement while receiving the awards motivates me to be even more involved with the club.This year I strive to be very involved with the club and all the activities we have because Ledcon made me realize how important and enjoyable this club truly is.
