Interviews

Claudia Bisso-Fetzer

Most of her information about climate change came from her family and education, she went on to talk about the ocean and how she saw it progressively get worse due to pollution. Her biggest quote tates “community matters”

Teresa De Sitter

The younger generation can start by advocating and and using their voices into things like voting against companies projects such as the willow project. She also goes on to say the younger generation can see and has lived this new reality therefore she says she has hope in younger generation in taking action of this universal problem.

Interviews

Kaegan sentner

Kaegan grew up on the southern side of California, he goes on to explain how he has seen physical changes within his home state due to the climate change. Including terrible snow packs, wildfires and droughts, pests

Interviews Pt.2

Tico (lead coordinator)

Tico wants a healthy planet where there’s stability and clean air as well as helpful resources and equality and technical advantages

Victoria Stark

She understands the basic living needs but if we don’t protect our home mother nature we won’t have any bills to pay or anywhere to live, we’ve got to protect our world at all cost because it needs to be a priority.

Hazel Castiso

In order for her to help with decreasing her carbon footprint she’ll start walking or biking places instead of using a car as well as being for intentional with her decision making evolving any aspects on the world.

Example 1

Tropical Storms

(Due to warmer oceans)

Facts

  • Warmer sea surface temperatures intensify tropical storm wind speeds.
  • Rise of sea levels contributed to the severity of Hurricane Katrina’s storm surge, increased rainfall, and increased the storm’s intensity.

Example 2

Less snow in mountains

Facts

  • Climate Change is indirectly affecting winter storms, making these events happen more often.
  • Less snow in Winters can indicate droughts in the Summer.

Example 3

Glaciers melting fast and ice

Facts

  • When glaciers melt, darker surfaces become exposed which absorb heat and raise temperatures even more.
  • Glaciers melting would cause sea levels to rise approx. 70 meters, flooding every coastal city on the planet.

Example 4

Intense droughts

Facts

  • Warmer temperatures enhance evaporation, this reduces surface water and dries out soils and vegetations.
  • Climate Change is altering the timing of water availability

Example 5

Flooding and rising sea levels

  • Ocean will become more acidic if we don't make an effort to reduce our waste
  • This can cause flooding, erosion, and a lost in habitat

Facts

Example 6

Melting Polar ice

  • 750 billion tons of ice melt each year due to global warming
  • Polar bears and more wildlife is dying due to jurassic environment changes

What can we do

Responding to climate change effectively will involve a 2 tier approach.

(Responder al cambio climático de manera efectiva implica un enfoque de dos niveles)

Mitigation- reducing flow of greenhouse gases into atmosphere (this can be done through using solar panels, using renewable energy, wasting less food planting trees…etc

(Mitigación: reducir el flujo de gases de efecto invernadero a la atmósfera (esto se puede lograr mediante el uso de paneles solares, el uso de energía renovable, el desperdicio de menos alimentos, la plantación de árboles, etc.)

Adaptation- learning to adapt to the climate change that has already been set in motion
